I just watched the Pilot and thought it looked promising. The book (short story?) by Stephen King was pretty good as I recall. I think this could be good in the prepper/survivalist sort of way if it's done right. We'll see.

Isn't this the premise of the Simpsons Movie? Seriously.

Yeah, from the Simpsons movie, that was my first thought as well when I saw the previews for this show. [panic]
I was waiting to see Homer in the background drinking a beer and going; "DOH!"
I hardly have any time for myself, what limited time I do have that I can watch adult TV shows are currently occupied by Supernatural, Warehouse 13, and Defiance, even Falling Skies is falling off my radar again. Even those I have to record and watch them late night when the boys are counting sheep. Not sure if I could get into this one...........

No where near a short story, it is over 1000 pages. It is not a copy of the simpsons because King began writing it on two seperate occasions, once in 1970 and then again in 1980 before finishing it in 2009. The book is great and is more about the human condition than preping. I have not watched the tv show yet but it is siting on my DVR.

I thought the second episode was "ok". The third needs to step it up or my DVR will have some extra space.
The boyfriend with the girl in the bunker...please. Lamest part of the show, but they're trying hard to make it a big part. Yes, I know how it works with the other guy with the dog-tags (forget his name) but it still seems so blatant...like it's just tossed in my face. Bad writing IMHO.
Anyway, next week could change things.
I started to watch this as my wife was watching and I quickly got into it. There are some definite lame parts as mentioned above, but overall I'll continue to watch it. Like cofi, my wife and I are looking for something to watch while The Following is in between seasons. We just finished the 1st episode, so we have a little catching up to do!

On demand works for us, as the wife works nights. We'll do late night sunday & monday 3-4 episode marathons.

Looks ok, I can see the human condition aspect. It is a pretty clear representation of slices of society etc.
Though in typical Stephen King fashion the geeky kid that people will dismiss when shit gets real is the one that will have it figured out.
