Buncha Pervs, get yo minds outta da gutter!

Now, for the Anglers here, I have looked at some of the "soft" tackle bags and I am curious how many here have the soft bags and how you like them.
Advantages/disadvantages etc.

I am using a Plano hip roof style and after humping it up a hill at Gross reservoir something a little more suitable if I have to hike is being considered.

Your thoughts please.........

Cool, another of those firm threads, last one was funny.

I have both and prefer the softside if have to hike. Downside is if you get wet/water logged ya gotta wring it out and still heavy to pack out.

I use a soft with shoulder strap and expandable zipper, allowing it to hold more (or less) trays depending on my goals for the day.

I dislike the hard tackle boxes -- takes to long to swap out tackle specific to the species that I am targeting. 1 tray for plastics, 1 for jerk baits, 1 for cranks, 1 for jigs, lindy, etc....

Downside: soft sides eventually wear out after a few years.

Shoot. I thought we were going to talk about mattresses.

I prefer it soft...

...as I hike up the mountains/rivers for trout fishing. As mentioned before, do not get the rig wet.

I find it easier to fit the d*namite in a soft sided bag...

Did I mention I'm not really "into" fishing? [Abused]

What were you doing up at Gross anyways? Shouldn't you be locked away in your dungeon fixing all our guns?

I have a couple hard boxes. I only fish from my boat or shore fish. If I am going to a river I'll carry my vest or one of the hard boxes with fly stuff in it.

I went with a soft backpack style bag from Bass Pro like this (http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Extreme-Qualifier-360-Backpack-or-System/product/10204414/) a few years back. While it came with a couple, inside I have 3 of the sectioned slim boxes organized by the type of gear inside (hooks/lures/jigs, weights/misc, bobbers/etc.). It costs $15 more if you buy the it with the boxes already, but I got it on sale then picked up a couple more boxes when I was visiting Bass Pro for $6/ea.

What I like about it is I can put all of my tackle in it with drinks, snacks and flashlights, still throw my wallet, keys & phone in it in case I take a spill into the lake (yeah, it's happened) but it frees my hands up for my rods and it makes humping to my fishing spots easy.

I also throw a bag chair over my shoulder with the pack on & it's still not too much.

I especially like that I don't have a tackle box that gets tipped/knocked over spilling out all of it's contents.

Stress management, relaxation.

I can't think of anything more relaxing on a nice Sunday morning than getting up at 4am, getting the kid up, spending 40.00 in gas, gutbombing McDonalds, driving up a narrow twistey mountain road I have not driven on in years, sliding/hiking/falling down 3/4 of a mile of steep hillwith a heavy tackle box and expensive graphite pole, playing with slimy nightcrawlers and stabbing myself with a lure, only to realize the previous night had one of the fullest moons in decades and the fish have no desire to feed, thrash the water with everything in the box and not catch a damn thing, only to realize at the end of four hours of the above that I have to climb the same 3/4 mile uphill while being a pack of smokes a day smoker and sitting on my ass all day and thinking I was going to die on the way up only after losing 20.00 bucks of lures at the freaking fish that wouldn't bite on an Elways filet mingnon served on a gold platter.

Had a good time and plan on doing it again.

Thanks Thomas, that is kind of what I was thinking...

Amen !!!
Its about the journey not the actual catching as I always say.

That being said I prefer soft bag with shoulder strap.

Okay, that's pretty awesome. The only thing it doesn't seem to have is a built in chair (easily remedied).
