I have a co-worker with a BMW X5 that has a GM transmission.

Meh. The 4L60 is in a LOT of cars. If I remember it's in the auto Z4 as well.

That's cool. But did it come from the factory that way? That is what blew me away. Lincoln made them at the factory with the BMW engine in them.

Well remember this, Lincoln was never accused of making bad decisions... [Coffee]

Yes, I know, spoken like a true BMW fanboy.

A friend of mine in San Diego inherited one from his father. Last I talked to him he still had it. He told me there was no market for them and they had little value. I'm pretty sure he would sell it for a whole lot less then $6,000.00.

A majority of cars are diesel in Europe and get way better gas mileage. Stupid EPA emissions standards keep most of these cars from being imported to the USA. Most cars on the road would be getting 30-40mpg if it wasn't for this.

I've never seen one personally, but have heard of them. IIRC, they also used it, or something similar in the rangers too. On the flip side, some Volvos used a GM transaxle, and had a high failure rate.

That's not even close as to why cars aren't getting that... Believe me, all the manufacturers have the tech to get their cars to that and above with plenty of horses to spare. It has nothing to do with the government, it has to do with how much money the people at the top make off of their holdings in oil. I learned much from my years in the business.
