Really? Stupid ass football players... It's ALWAYS a football player!
Athletes are so disconnected from reality that this is no surprise. Look at his list of incidents. It was only a matter of time. Freakin' idiot.

Cleveland Browns (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/cle/cleveland-browns) rookie linebacker Ausar Walcott (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/16538/ausar-walcott) was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder for allegedly punching a man outside a club in Northern New Jersey.
In light of the charges, the Browns announced the release of the player they had signed last month as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia.
Authorities told The Bergen Record (http://www.northjersey.com/news/Former_Hackensack_HS_football_star_who_recently_jo ined_the_NFLs_Browns_is_charged_with_attempted_mur der_after_an_incident_in_Passaic.html) that Walcott punched Derrick Jones in the head just after The Palace Gentlemen's Club closed early Sunday morning.
Police say Jones, who is from New York City, is in critical condition. Walcott, 23, is held on $500,000 bail.
Walcott is one of 28 NFL players arrested since this year's Super Bowl on Feb. 3, according to a database kept by U-T San Diego.
In 45 games for Virginia, Walcott totaled 128 career tackles, 1.5 sacks, four passes defensed and one fumble recovery.
This isn't the first time Walcott has been arrested. In January 2011, he faced charges of assault and battery from a fight while he was at Virginia. Walcott was suspended from the team but was reinstated after charges were dropped.
Here's another one on ESPN... Yeah. GREAT role models for kids...

Aaron Hernandez is innocent until proven guilty. He may have done nothing wrong other than being at the wrong place at the wrong time and overly cooperative.
Or he could be a murderous scumbag, let the process proceed without jumping to conclusions.

The destruction of his home security system which had 14 cameras around his house, along with having people come in to clean his entire house and car, is not suspicious at all....

Not in the slightest bit... I mean, I always destroy cameras and have my house cleaned before the police come over.
Pro athletes were given everything in college so they got good grades in return they got to play sports. In the real world, there is no one there to save you.
And the media pokes fun at players like Tebow. You'll (probably, I hope) never see him in a situation like this.People poke fun at Tebow because he is inept at his job. The media friggen loved Tebow as long as he was actually playing. You couldn't get away from him and his holy-rolling John-boy-isms.
I am not sure what the purpose of your analogy is.
Are you saying that professed good guys should get preferential playing time over troublemakers with true talent? Or maybe the Hernandezes of the sports world should not be given any second chances to improve on past mistakes? Or are you saying that the NFL should not put the best product on the field for fear of having a problem like this arise?
If Hernandez did it, he is screwed; no job, no freedom, no more money, and a tiny room with lots of shitty neighbors. Just desserts.
(as an aside, when Tebow was a Bronco, I rooted for him to succeed. I wanted him to improve and turn into a true NFL QB. But now, I could give a shit)

No they didn't. They mocked him from day one for being devout, even when he was playing, even when he won games. Sometimes they were honest and mocked him for his faith, other times they professed other reasons to mock him. Coverage of him was frequently about his faith (not by his choice) rather than his wins or his stats -- unless there was a loss they could point to and claim he lacked talent and shouldn't be in the league. I'm not a fan of his but the disparate and biased coverage was blatant.
I won't speak for 3beansalad but IMO, yeah, a proclivity for bad behavior SHOULD be something the NFL/NBA/MLB/etc. should take into consideration when hiring. Hiring bad characters can affect the entire team. You could be the best _____________ on the planet and I wouldn't want to hire you if you had a history of violent behavior.

THIS! Mtnhack, not sure, but would you rather have a habitual criminal who's really good at his job working for you, or a guy who will never be in trouble that's good at his job, but not quite as good as the criminal? I'd much rather have the one who won't give me legal headache later on down the road.

Hernandez will walk, regardless of his guilt. He's is rich, famous and most importantly, still useful to the NFL. Just ask Ray Lewis how that works out.

You could be the best _____________ on the planet and I wouldn't want to hire you if you had a history of violent behavior. How do you mock someone for their faith when all they did was replay his post-game interviews? Mocking is what SNL did, not what the news did.
The coverage regarding his faith was because his play was not newsworthy outside of about 4 or 5 miraculous comebacks following terminable performances in the previous 3+ quarters, yet he was arguably one of the top 5 most popular NFL athletes 2 seasons ago. His devout proclamations were what was news and of interest to most of his fans. This was not his choice? He chose to open every statement with something about jesus and his lord and savior. His choice was to try to use every possible minute of his fame to promote his beliefs. What should he have expected given those actions? People don't talk like that in their everyday, blue and white collar jobs.
"Congratulations on hitting your sales projections this quarter Tim. Tell the board how you plan to improve next quarter"
"Well, I couldn't have done it without the guidance of my lord and savior, Jesus Christ. With his trust and love, I am sure my sales will excel next quarter. Thank you.
Yes, character should be considered and I was ecstatic when the Broncos went with Demarius Thomas over Dez Bryant based on Bryant's troubled past. It seems now that it was a decent decision given that Bryant got into so much bs that Dallas made Bryant pay for a nanny to hold his hand whenever he was away from the facilities. Some people/players are beyond help and should not get chance after chance, but to say to a kid of 22 that any mistake he made when he was in college should proclude him from a chance at a NFL carreer seems short sighted to me.

But would you rather have someone who gets in a little bit of hell-raising at home every once in a while and was the best at his job, or someone who was completely inept and incapable of doing what you hired him for, but a really great guy?

Why does every football thread have to turn into a Tebow discussion? We have seen time and again he isn't an NFL quality quarterback - thats why the Pats picked him up to play Tight End (perhaps to replace Hernandez).
DA says Hernandez shot Llyod 3 times right after he got out of the car then twice in the chest after he was on the ground.

There were tons of teams who passed up Hernandez when he was drafted specifically because of his off the field concerns. Headed into the draft Hernandez was projected as 1-2 round pick, he fell way back to 4th (where the Pats took him).
There are a lot of guys who fall back in the draft because of issues like these (Honey Badger from LSU).

Not surprised in the least bit. I absolutely HATE professional sports for this very reason. These puke-sacks come from dirt and automatically handed millions of dollars because they learn how to play a f**king sport. Then people act all shocked when they get involved in drugs, sex and murder. Piss on them all. Beyond good people getting railroaded by the media, Tebow was never given a chance. In the end the stat that matters is in the W column and he put up Ws.
I'm saying professed good guys should never be attacked simply for being good guys... which Tebow was from the moment the Superbowl commercial aired.
When good people are treated as a pariah simply because they have morals and values we should all wonder why.

I don't think so, mate. Ray didn't actually kill anyone; although he got away with being witness to manslaughter and obstruction of justice.
If this went down the way it sounds like it did (he committed a pre-meditated murder complete with recruiting accomplices), he's getting the Ray Carruth treatment.

Ummm...because it's a thread on his character, or lack thereof. And I have a hard time believing he legally bought the pistol in a private F2F sale with a law-abiding citizen or had it gifted to him by a responsible relative, therefore leading me to believe that just a year removed from high school, he was purchasing illegal handguns and taking neat mirror pics with them, instead of applying himself to the free undergrad opportunities afforded to him.
For the record, I don't know who this guys is, don't like sports, etc, etc. We can't assume that just because he has a gun at 19 that it wasn't legally purchased. Well, we can assume that, but it's not a strong argument in my opinion.

I would disagree Denver was not going anywhere until he stepped in. You may question the mans ability but his heart to play the game inspired his team and the fans watching.
But back to Hernandez researching this guy indicates that his talent outweighed the questions about his gang ties and drug use. Never heard one thing about this guy possible involvement in another shooting until the murder popped up. Personally I bi elieve in chances , however it sounds like this guy got so many that he never learned from them or greatful for getting them. This guy weighs his actions and fully expects to get over on this murder by getting another chance. Most of have special talents when it comes to work but we count on be recognized for our talents and actions. I became successful in my field by talent and hard work but someone above me had to give me the chance to prove myself. I will always be greatful to those people. This guy shit on those people.
From everything I'm hearing, this guy was a bad apple. He didn't socialize with his teammates, ex players are saying they wanted nothing to do with him, etc. Lots of evidence pointing at him.
And the media pokes fun at players like Tebow. You'll (probably, I hope) never see him in a situation like this.

I think the reason might be because the patriots picked up Tim Tebow and there is speculation that he might play tight end. Aaron hernandez plays for the pats(did) and played TE... also, it could be because Tim Tebow is in the NFL, and is of great character. he was brought up because generally the character of the atheletes in the NFL is suspect. (as in hernandez)..
so kind of the perfect person to bring up in this discussion lol...

Yeah, that's how sick I am of hearing about this douche. I used to like him right when Denver drafted him but now I can't stand him and it's admittedly through no fault of his own. This same unknown presence that kept him in the league when he had no talent will also be his undoing.

Tebow has't even made the cut yet and even with all this attrition I'll be surprised if he's still on the roster by the time the season starts. So, he technically doesn't play for the Patriots. That being said, even if he did it doesn't matter.
Once again, character matters... and obviously Hernandez has none. http://www.tmz.com/2013/06/27/aaron-hernandez-throwing-gang-signs/ If someone cannot stomach comparing the character of one 'celebrity' that the media has lifted up due to his physical ability to another that the media as chastised due to his faith, I do apologize.I have never seen much of anything written of Hernandez's skills or character, and would refer you to my earlier post as it appears you missed it. https://www.ar-15.co/threads/108627-Patriots-TE-Aaron-Hernandez-Charged-With-MURDER?p=1200391&viewfull=1#post1200391 Stating and restating that poor Timmy was torn asunder because of his faith does not make it true.
So count me with Jer on this one; fuck Tebow. There is no shortage of NFL players who hold their faith close and who are of high character, but actually have an nfl career. You could have went that way, but chose to pucker upon TT's sphincter instead. My guess is you think Tebow is riding the pine because all the coaches, GMs and owners in the league are heathens and hate religion and Tebow's fervid man crush on Jesus. Poor Tim.
But to the real topic...
http://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1h6euh/full_account_of_the_evidence_against_hernandez/ Pretty crazy timeline put together. Hernandez is going to be properly fucked. There is no way he gets out of this one.
Good for it as he not only seems to be scum, but ignorant scum at that.

I'm not an expert at all. I simply applied some common sense to a topic. You should try it sometime.
Good of you admit, but how do you know the decedent had his whole life ahead of him? Or is that a conclusion you jumped to?
I guess I'm lost on how comparing the behavior of one member of the NFL Players Association to that of another fails meet the bar for common sense.
Well at least you can carry on a conversation with class and tact... errr, umm. Nevermind.

As if we didn't already know this but it's crazy at how they put everything together via cameras and cell towers. They even knew what kind of bubble gum he bought. "Nothing to worry about here. Those cameras are for traffic accidents only".
Okay, let me jump in and pump the brakes-
First, Tim Tebow is pretty well known, it's also well know that Mr. Tebow is a goodie two-shoes who is probably among the least likely player in the NFL to get into any kind of legal trouble, especially violence related legal trouble like illegal firearms possession, assault, or murder.
Second, you hate Tebow? Okay, BFD. Doesn't take away from the comparison that Hernandez is a "thug" and his past and character prove it, and Tebow is an "angel" and seems to be a stand up guy, regardless of how "good" or "talented" he is at a fucking sport, you can't hate on the fact that he's actually a decent human being and we only wish that his attitude and demeanor was more common in athletes who just so happen to be role models for many people in this country. Jeez, some people need to woosah and relax. You're gonna give yourselves a heart attack. No need to get your panties in a wad when someone brings up Tebow as an example of a person with good character and morals, especially when drawing opposite comparisons between criminals and "good guys."

I'm with Ronin on this because I think he is right. And because his Avatar is Ron Swanson. Immediately a 14 out of 10 on the credibility scale.

The question is what the fuck does Tewboo have to do with Hernandez allegedly murdering someone? The point of this thread isn't the gang-banging NFL players versus the Jesus loving players - its about the fact that Hernandez is being charged with murder - and investigated for another double murder.
I'd like everyone to give me their thoughts on Dan Marino since he is in no way involved in this case either.
Ray Lewis might be a better person to include since he got away with covering up a murder while playing in the NFL....

I think in the beginning someone pointed out that football players are all pretty much scum, then someone mentioned Tebow, then others jumped on the bandwagon or tried to push it off the cliff.

first off Jer, it's going to be alright.. no need to fly off the handle... again.. the slowed down version of the joke was that tebow might annoy you a little because you arent exposed to that much good character working at the prison (again, i think you work at a prison?? could be wrong?). apparently not that funny.
secondly, hernandez doesnt technically play for the pats either now does he?... making it an even more valid comparison lol.. somebody brought up another player aquired by the same team who will likely fill in for the incarcerated hernandez, with the opposite character of a murderer. and said that the new person on the team probably wouldnt ever be in a situation like this. YOU were the one who got all hissing and started cussing about the player for no reason lol...
again.. if tebow didnt play for the same team, and wasnt likely to fill in for him, it would not be valid. just like if somebody had said "bill gates would never murder somebody!"

glad you mentioned that.. because ray lewis was brought up on the second page of this thread... and nobody was talking about the "young man who lost his life" and how we need to focus on hernandez... lol
or the browns guy who was just arrested that was brought up in the first 5 posts.. no outrage when comparing either of those two guys.

Yes, they were discussing how Ray Lewis walked from his similar circumstance... not how Ray Lewis is a Catholic or Jew or loves God...

The post that Jer was refering too didnt lable tebow as such either????
and referancing character ALL over this fuckin thread including posting up a list of athelets who have been arrested for murder, now all of a sudden we shouldnt talk about tebow (good character vs the rest of the guys listed) because we are "forgetting abou the young man who lost his life" lol..
