I would like a 2 piece modular forearm for a carbine. I see these for around $100.00 for non-name brand units at the gun shows, I look at those because I unfortunately am on a budget. Is that about the best price I'll find? If anyone had a good source or a site recomendation, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks
Robb

Not quite. I was interested in the 2 piece but with the integrated rails top, bottom and sides.

I think the YHM ones are affordable and good quality. If no one here sells them, check with brightflashlights on the "other" AR board.

I had the YHM and dropped them in favor of the MI. They are both okay, but the MI is made better and is to spec with the rails. I also didn't like the way the YHM split the reail down the middle.

Both will mount fine, and you can hang lots of stuff on them. But I'm sold on the MI. I have a review up on Colorado Shooting if you go look at it. The review is the rifle length, but I have used both the rifle length and the carbine length. USMC03 has a review of the mdilength up there on his page.

How about the Magpul MOE (http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?t=613)...is that the type of handguard you were looking for? Rails aren't permanently attached but you only have to attach what you need.

Are the MOE HG's even available anywhere yet? I haven't been looking but...

Either way there are a bunch of options here. Really the question is what are you wanting to use them for?

Another option is the SureFire M73 rails .. can usually be had for around $125 or so used if you should around for them. They lock in better than the MI or YHM rails and are my personal preference for non-free float carbine length rails.

ETA:

OK looks like MP started shipping the MOE forends this month. Apparently they are available at MP direct if you call.. last post I just read said $34 shipped, with no rail segments. Guess you'd need to ID the rail segments you're wanting and add them to the order. Any way you look at it the MP forend is going to be the best thing out there at a reasonable price.

Buuuh-bye M73 rails!
