HELP. We had a hell of a rain last Wednesday night and water washed a good of portion of my driveway away. [shit-happens]
Now I am searching for about 8 or 10 empty burlap SAND BAGS. Any idea where I can find such a small number of these empty BURLAP sand bags??? Any sensible suggestions (non-BS suggestions) will be greatly appreciated.[blaster]
Your local feed and seed store? They might not be official sand bags, but they might be the right construction.
You could call one of those non-profits like The Red Cross, or whoever usually goes to help places that have flooded and see if they have any ideas.

I have a couple empty plastic feed bags but they are way to large. Thanks for the suggestion but plastic bags do deteriorate so dang fast from the intense sunshine out here.

Thanks for that idea but don't believe we have any such emergency/disaster relief facilities down here in little old Trinidad. Of course Trinidad usually seems like the anus/rectum of the State when we attempt to locate something even a little unusual. [Mad]

You said no BS suggestions, so I got nothing except to echo what Irving said. They may even have some they'll give to you.

Bob, the places that receive disaster relief are usually in the middle of no where as well, and those outfit have to travel to where ever that may be. I was hoping they'd be able to tell you where to get the bags, like give you the name of the supplier that they use.
Each year, in the Spring, Whole Foods here in Boulder gives away two very large burlap bags of compost to anyone that shows up. The compost is a finer dust than any sand and the bags don't seem to leak it much. All the bags seem to have some sort of coffee brand on them. I have no idea where they get them, but if you want to give them a ring to ask where the 'Spring burlap compost bags' come from, their phone number is 303.545.6611

Thanks for the suggestion. Since you indicated the bags they may offer are VERY LARGE bags, thought I' d better mention that I am really looking for the much smaller bags that my 76 year old carcass can easily handle when loaded with sand............. [blaster]

Maybe only fill them 1/4 full and fold the top under them before setting down on the ground? I'm just tossing out ideas.
Although not what you are asking for, one technique that worked really well when I had my place in FL was to wait for the lowest tide of the month and stack bags of Quikrete. When the tide came in, it instantly made a permanent concrete seawall that looked as if it was made out of sandbags (DOW wouldn't sign off on some permanent walls but stacked bags seemed OK for some reason). In spite of Quikrete bags not being "sand", they're about the same size as a typical sand bag, far more durable after being soaked and no amount of Colorado UV would break them down. -just another option...
I have plenty and will send some your way.
PM sent.
Not sure if it is seasonal, but how about the sandbags home depot sells for truck weight

Actually, I have three of these bags that I was using for weight in the back of the pickup during icy/snowy times. The outer covers have completely deteriorated due of our climate out here. Many thanks anyhow!!
