Ok it seems like this happened a few years ago, but I'm not 100% sure it was the same rifle. I don't want this to happen again period. The rear ring that broke is the style that has ears on each side. Base has screws on both sides for rear and dovetail up front. Looks like the ears just sheard off over lots of shooting. Both base and rings are Leupold. Free replacement, but I need something stronger/reliable
The gun itself is a Savage 10FP 308. Not really a kicker. The scope is a Bushnell Elite 6-24x40. Heavy scope is probably what killed the ring right?
What's the best mount and ring set up that won't break the bank? I was looking tonight at the Warne 1 piece Picatiny 20MOA base 97.99. As far as rings that were reasonable were the Burris Xtream Tactical Picatinny-style rings 48.99. Seems like a good value to me if it would hold.
Another option could be duel dovetail rings, but I like the cool factor of a 20 MOA base if I ever wanted to shoot it looong range.

What's best for my champange taste beer budget[Whacko]

I use the Leupold QD rings for my Burris 3200 on a 20" AR, but they had lived on my Remmy 700 in .308 .. currently using Armalite Heavy rings for the 30mm SS 16x on that rifle.

So the Armalites are pretty damn massive, but I would never expect any type of shearing. Then again a 1 piece 20MOA base might help a lot. Either the Leupold's or Armalite's are going to be close to your price range. After that Badger Ordanance, but they don't come cheap. Then again they'll survive just about everything.

After looking at it more I think it probably got a little loose on me without changing impact somehow? Wouldn't have gotten loose if it were a dovetail though

New ring is in the mail with one e-mail. You have to love Leupold. Going to put this ring back on and shoot the gun as is till I see work picking back up. I will use loc-tite this time around.
