Glad to have found you guys.
I grew up on a farm in Kentucky, where almost everyone had a gun (usually several) and no one ever got shot. Moved to Colorado as a kid, where it is pretty much the opposite.
[LOL]
I got out of shooting when we moved to Colorado, and fairly recently (9 years ago) got into big game hunting. That reignited the fire. Now that I am an old phart the clock is ticking and I have lead to throw!! About 5 years ago or so, I picked up an Olympic K8 5.56 AR-15 just because it was way kewler than my childhood .22 mag for practice, and it just keeps getting more fun to shoot and fiddle with.
With the price of ammo, and the desire to consume lots of it, I picked up reloading last year prior to antelope hunting. Loaded up ammo for my son (300WSM), my wife (.243), and myself (300WSM, .223 Rem) and had great success with antelope and prairie poodles.
This coming fall, my son is getting married but we hope to take his new father in law on his first antelope hunt, and throw in some varminting for fun. Kind of a proper bachelor party if you ask me.
I was the Land Use Coordinator for our 4x4 club last year, and am active in Land Use issues still - guess that comes from growing up on a farm. If we abuse it, we lose it, holds true for motorized access as well as shooting.
Anywho.... Hi there! [Beer]
