I can't answer your question. But for about the last 3 hours I've felt this overwhelming sense of safety. Odd.

I usually make a once a year order from Lou Malnoti's. Get a few pies, cheesecakes, hot dog kit and ribs. Have to make a large order to justify the shipping costs.

I've been making mine at home for the last year.

This guy's recipe is legit. The only special thing you need is a deep dish pizza pan. (Don't be fooled by his April Fool's day post, there is no corn meal in Chicago style deep dish, it's Semolina)

I'll probably get slack for being a hippy boulderite ski-bum, but have you tried Beau Jo's (Boulder and Idaho Springs)?

And I'm back in "California", but at least there's a few good pizza options there.

Haven't we already had this conversation before? It may not be Chi-Com-cago style, but I like Beau Jo's. [Beer]

BJ's tastes good, but only the pies with the prairie crust, because I'm not a fan of the mountain pies where 50% of your slice is the crust.

I went to Gino's East on Superior Street when I was home over Memorial Day (closest pizza to my hotel).
Small 4-slice "Supreme" deep dish (maybe 8"-9") was $22.
Aside from the price, it was only 3/8" thick...not the 1" think it used to be (missing LOTS of cheese and other stuff).
Waitress said they no longer had a "house" dressing for the salads...
I left disappointed.

I learned how to make it here, as well as homemade Italian Beef, and homemade Giardinara.

For my recent birthday, my mom sent me Polish Rye Bread w/ caraway seeds and homemade cured/dried Polish Sausage...can't get it here in Denver. I HAVE found good sausage and Jewish rye bread but, ...not quite the same.

Best I've Pizza I've found here ...(and in Chicago, Rosatti's is not consider comparably very good)

Big Bill's NY Pizza in Highlands Ranch/Littleton! As the name suggests, it's NY style. It even got the nod from an ex NY cop that's a customer of mine. He does some good community stuff, too.

Beaujo's is good. The mountain every-kind-of-meat pie with 1554 is my traditional post-getting-schooled-at-a-pistol-match feast. But it's not Chicago.

But James Bond had to post that list, and now I'm getting homesick.

My vote is for Beau joes but if your ever in Greeley give Roma's or sateramos a try. The atmosphere my be a bit hippie-ish but the pizza is awesome.

I'm from the Chicago area and I can hardly find a decent place to eat out here.

As far as pizza goes I either make my own(I'm a former Chicago pizza maker) or get a Papa Murphy's and bring it home and dress it up a bit.

I ALWAYS SQUARE CUT my pizza.

I have issues with Papa Murphy's crust. When I eat it, I always wonder if I left the cardboard circle on when I baked it .[gohome]

Beau Jo's is pretty good, but there is too much crust for me.
I'd say out of the Colorado Pizza, I like Beau Jo's best.

I've often gotten Tombstone's and "customized them" to where people wonder what brand it is ...ala Sandra Lee's Semi-Homemade.

I haven't eaten true New York or Chicago style pizza, so to some here I may not have a reasonable opinion.

With that said, I think there are too many variations of pizza to choose just one. For example, Beaujos is awesome in my opinion, and If I was in the mood for Beaujos style pizza, I doubt you could convince me that any other pizza is better than Beaujos.

Likewise, Doo drop inn pizza (small Pueblo branch) is thick and the crust is sweet, if I wanted a thick sweet crust, you are going to have a hard time convincing me any other pizza would suffice.

Maybe some wouldn't even consider some of these "Colorado style" pizzas, pizza? They are round, dough, have sauce and cheese.

At the end of the day, pizzas are like women, many varieties and I don't discriminate lol.

You have to order the bigger 3 pound Beau Jo's pizza to get a decent sized slice with a good amount of crust. The ratio ends up being wrong on the smaller pies, biased towards the crust. A one pounder is a bite of pizza, and three bites of crust.

That being said, I love Beau Jo's. I think they had a weird decade between 2000-2009 with expansion problems, consistency, and did something stupid to their pizza sauce, but they seem to have gotten all that ironed out these days.
