"How many _______ does it take to get a rare rifle confiscated they claim is theirs back from the USA?"
That kind of joke?
In seriousness to the story that is totally messed up. Shows the new atmosphere of this once great nation is just to "give" in if asked to do so by a foreign power. No backbone.

Why didn't the Polish government just get a broker in the states to purchase the fucking thing if he had it listed for sale?
Total dick move.
Why is our Government taking sides and not talking with the man first? Showing up unannounced and demanding property with threats... Just messed up.

Because that is the govt that we voted into power
Sadly, Poland will probably end up spending more than his asking price for the rifle in lawyers if they win. They could have just sent someone to contact him and see if he would sell it to them at a lower price so it could be preserved in a museum. Being one of five documented pieces remaining of a WW2 production could make it worth even more than the $65,000 he was asking.

Exactly. Way more than the $65k is going to be spent on lawyers on this thing, and for what? Just buy it.
It's one thing if this guy stole it himself, but he's a legit collector. Do the right thing.
