I realize we have a buyer intel section but I thought this applied here. Please move if I was wrong.
Went by Costco (W Quincy) today and they had Ball canning jars for $5.99/dz for pints, $6.99/dz. Both regular mouth. That's a pretty darn good deal. If you want some act fast because it appeared they won't be restocking the pints. (BTW You can always tell if they will not restock immediately because they put a little * in the upper right corner of the price sign.)

Don't forget to order Tattler Reusable Lids. You can reuse the caps over and over. The rubber rings you can reuse until the rubber fails. Support a local company.
Haven't done any canning yet this year as we've been busy. Maybe I'll hit costco and the farmer's market on the way home. What's cheap and in-season right now? I could probably go for some jam/preserves or something.
Need to can up some split pea/ham soup too.
Thx for the heads up on the jars.

Heads up, there are no jars at the Park Meadows Costco.
Need to can up some split pea/ham soup too.
THAT sounds great right now.

Going to do a batch of my Peach-Strawberry jam. peaches come in late and strawberries are early. My trick is to get the last of one and the beginning of another. I do batches every two years. I use a 3-1 ratio and love the stuff.[Flower]

I'll check my local store and post up here. The jars get moved around alot, I had to hunt for them.
Noticed tonight that Target has 1lb boxes of strawberries on special sale around $1.15 or so. Grabbed a bunch, guess I need to figure out how to make strawberry jam/preserves now.
jerrymrc - 3:1 ratio which way - I'm guessing more peaches than strawberries? We had some peaches come in through our co-op but only maybe 8-10. That's probably not enough, huh?

Anyplace in SE Metro I can find these retail? Looks like they have retail stores in longmont or co springs, but that's too far for lids. I can just order them I guess, but not by tomorrow... :)

that is correct. I like my strawberry jam but the combo makes a nice change.
Holy cow there's a lot of sugar in strawberry jam. Dang it tastes good but no wonder. Guess I need to find something that has less than 7 cups of sugar per 8 jars of jam.
You can make low sugar jam. You just need to make sure you buy the low sugar pectin. Because you are not using much sugar you need to make sure the fruit you use is very ripe and sweet.
The Costco at the McCaslin exit off of 36 has the jars, they are right outside the cold produce room toward the back of the store.
The Costco in Westminster still has 2 pallets of jars. They are on the right side of the store a couple aisles from the phone kiosk.

Still 2 pallets but they moved them to the back of the store.

FYI - these are back at the Costco on Quincy. Same price as last year. They were up front last week but they have been moved back by the kitchen goods/pots and pans this week.
Go get some.

Grabbed a few, last year the sold stupid fast.
Anybody know if they are in the Aurora one or nearby?
The Westminster Costco has an endcap with both sizes.
