Since the other thread got deleted with the rest of the TP I decided it's time to start a review thread.

Here are a couple pictures of the latest Rev .556 brake.
Ignore the small light spots on the part, those are tiny flecks of aluminum.. Should have blown off my welding table first..

We put a couple mags though the .30 cal prototype the other day and I like the performance on 115 and 147grn 300blk.

Shoot skullybones a pm if your looking for a brake.
I saw a custom job that he did for another member here hopefully they will post up some pics. Jared's capabilities and part finish are second to none.

He sent me a .223 brake to test. Have been happy with it so far. The finish is very nice.

Another 1K though it and it will go in the Sonic cleaner to see what the baffle looks like.

I have one of the brakes, and helped them do some testing but haven't seen the video, got a link?

As a side note, I have a collection of brakes but this is the one that is on my rifle...... take that for what it's worth. THIS BRAKE WORKS!

Jared has done a great job on this brake. I have one criticism that I have relayed to him, and he is working on it.

I have a few thousand rounds downrange with this brake and I shot a local and this past week the Crimson Trace Invitational with it. I was very happy with the performance. The rifle it was on weighed 7 pounds with a red dot, IR laser, green laser and white light. JP low mass carrier and 16" chrome lined 1/8 light contour mid-length barrel. Very flat shooting and I was able call shots, in the dark out at the maximum distance we engaged targets...that is impressive folks!

Here is a facebook post by Kalani Laker, one of the top 3gunners in the Country who shoots for Stag: Kalani Laker (https://www.facebook.com/kalani.laker)I was pretty surprised at how balanced the rifle was. Usually when a rifle is overly heavy or light, the weight is too far forward or to the rear. Carbon Arms did a good job creating a light weight, balanced rifle that also recoils really smooth. Good job, guys!

I have designed some comps and I have tested and used almost everyone on the market. This comp is now up for sale on the CarbonArms.us website (the first comp we have ever sold on the website) and I am building uppers using this comp. For those of you who know me, you know that is the best endorsement I can give.

I'm assuming these are made of aluminum? (based onthe first thread of having flecks of aluminum in the picture..)

I'm interested in seeing the results of the 1k round cleaning.

Nope, heat treated steels. I'll try to get photos of the inner baffle at 1K up tonight.

Thank you to everyone for the positive reviews. I have some .308 Prototypes completed, but no AR-10 to test them on. I have tested it on .300 blackout supersonic rounds, with great results.

If anyone can meet this week, I will supply quality .308 ammo to run a quick test of the brakes. I will also hook that person up with a free .308 brake for their time.

Thank you

Jared,

I have a new SW MP 10 that you can use. Where do you shoot?

I like the quality of your 5.56 version - it's being perm'd attached by bptactical. I will write up a feedback sometimes next week.

Iceaxe-- I don't currently have a lathe to thread barrels. It is on the horizon though.

CM-- I normally shoot at a friends house near Peterson AFB, or a couple spots local to me. Do you get down this way much?

KS63-- I will PM you as soon as I begin production on these. I know it will work great on your .300 Black. What weight bullet do you run?

I didnt have time to put too many rounds through mine yet. I shot 2 mags during my lunch break -- shortly after I picked up the rifle from Bert. Credit to BPTactical (http://www.bptacticalservices.com/) for the barrel work, re-crown and perm'd attachment, and to Jared @ Dynamics Resistance (http://www.dynamicresistancellc.com/products.html) for the compensator. However, if I have to compile my first impression in one or two sentences:

Dynamics Resistance Compensator on the HK36 clone simply eliminates muzzle climb as effective if not better than PWS compensator at half the price. I feel that this compensator is designed for improving accuracy in follow up shots & easier target acquisition.

I will be ordering few more for the 5.56 and 308. Thanks again Jared.

I don't get onto this forum often enough, and just stumbled on this thread. After trying several of his slightly different prototypes, Jared settled on the 308 break design he wants to work with. I've got the prototype mounted on my LR-308 based JP rifle and have begun doing some testing. So far the 308 brake is excellent and will be pleasing to most who try it. A few preliminary observations: I shot it at dusk a few days ago and the flash signature is about the same as a birdcage, concussion is about the same as a Miculek comp (aka. on the light side for a brake), muzzle manors are similar to a rolling thunder or titan (yes I've run them both) and without a pressure chamber it should be easy to keep clean (which is the shortcoming of the two mentioned big dogs). It's a relatively short and light weight brake and looks good on my rifle. This prototype performs on par with the best brakes out there, with a list of additional amenities which don't exist in other brakes. The balance of amenities, combined with the low cost, make this as close to a jack of all traits 308 comp as you can currently find. 20yd hammers yields 90% alphas, however, you should know that I've been running 308 almost exclusively for 2yrs and am much more practiced at recoil management than most. So far my only testing has been with 308 nato or equivalent 150gr reloads. I have some 125 gr bullets I will load up soon and try out to see how the comp handles the shorter lighter bullets in conjunction with the greater gas volume. More gas is usually good for a comp, but we'll see. If you have something you would like me to be observant of while testing, feel free to toss it out there. I won't however be burning my expensive 308 ammo doing direct comparisons between this brake and others, unless I am out to answer my own questions. This comp will be cheap enough for you to purchase one and do your own comparison testing. Besides, the feel of this brake vs that brake is always highly subjective. 308 semi autos have enough weight bouncing around inside that anyone can mess up shooting them and there simply isn't any comp on the market which takes out all of the work in the larger platform. You have to do your part with proper technique. More info later, as I have it.

I've been running the .223 comps and I have about 4K rounds downrange total now. I decided not to put up any photos of the baffle since the current production ones have a thicker baffle which will increase the longevity. We have been selling them on our website and the folks that have received them have been very happy with them. Less concussion, just as effective as the more "popular" ones, but with less weight and cost.

Picked one at Springs Armory. Only have a few quick rounds out of it but wow...very impressed. My only issue is I'm running out of excuses on why I can't hit the targets!
Seriously, very smooth, recoil reduction was impressive.
Thanks for the review/recommendation!

I've run a few hundred rounds through the prototype 308 brake, including two matches and twp practice sessions. At 20yds, I can hammer pairs from a 20rd mag of nato ball and consistently score 17-18 Alpha hits on a standard USPSA target. Jarod and I are still testing and tweeking the little details, so he's not ready to release it yet. It's looking very promising though. A couple of things I have noticed so far... The comp feels exactly the same to me with full power Nato and with reduced power 125gr ammo. The carbon pattern in the baffles after 300 rds is barely visible, meaning the comp does a good job of cleaning itself. Also there seems to be an even dispersion across all three baffles, meaning the gas is not just dumping out the first baffle. There is no sign of errosion, although it is way too early for that to mean anything. So far I like the brake a lot.

I've picked up a .223/5.56 and a 7.62/308 14x1LH AK muzzle brakes. I really like the machining and finish quality , compact size.
Both brakes work great and do an impressive recoil reduction , also less concussion than many brakes on the market for sure.
Great brakes, highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a really good working, high quality muzzle device.

Jared tells me he is working hard on the .308 comps. What I would consider the dominant .308 3Gun shooter over the past 15 years or so compared this comp, on video, to three other, more expensive, more famous, but no better performing comps. He was happy with the performance and the movement on the DR comp was less than the others. He asked that I not post the video or even show it to anyone else, but the performance is there. He will work on another video when he has some time next year. [UZI]

SHIT................ i am months over due on my findings. Received a test unit months ago. Installed on the wife's AR. However since it's a lefty and , well it's her rifle, i never range tested it. Until last week.
Outside of being a loud brake, the overall function is impressive. I dread the day her tax stamp comes in and i switch it over to her 11.5" upper.
Hopefully she likes the second / third shot follow up as much as i did.

When my Draco SBR stamp finally arrives, i will put one on it too.
