Dude can't stop giggling. Awesome.

I know. I thought that was pretty funny.
Outstanding - :)
"My child moment is over" - he is pretty entertaining.
Yes, I'd like to have a Tavor, we'll see how things pan out over the next year or so.

his video demonstrates muscle memory. he tries to stick the magazine up front of the grip. like he has done a zillion times on an AR.
i noticed that also. Next time someone tries to tell me MM is no big deal I'm showing them that
Who would not like to have Jerry as a relative or close friend?
Look at the sights, don't look at the target. So easy to say, so hard to do.
Thanks for sharing.

There's a guy that enjoys his work!! Must be the 'horny' ammo! [Coffee] Man that Tavor looks nice!
Why does he say don't try this at home? Is there one thing he does that he shouldn't be encouraging people to do? We need more shooters. Not more people watching shows about people shooting.

It's just him limiting his liability. I wouldn't put too much weight into it.

I just thank it's great that a guy who most likey has put more lead downrange in his life than most of the members on this site combined can still have so much fun shooting that it makes him giggle like a little girl. He truly seems like a great guy.

Have you priced ammo lately? lulz
ugh did anyone watch his final thoughts? does he realize its a 16.5" barrel? he says out to 200 yards and itll probably lose out to normal sized rifles. does he think its an sbr or something?

He made reference to that a little more earlier. the impression I got was that he didn't feel it was well suited for bipod setups for longer range.

Reminds me of hickok45 with the giggling

ok but you can easily shoot out to 400-500 yards without a bipod, heck even without a scope with some practice.
Jerry, Kay and Lena (their daughter) really ARE great people. I have been fortunate enough to shoot several matches with them and Jerry is funny, an amazing shooter and has great integrity as well. While there are some other more highly "marketed" female shooters, Kay is the Queen and Lena is rising to the top pretty quick. The recent videos at Miculek.com have some great information to help your shooting too.
What will be telling is if he runs it at the 3GN pro match.

That's what I was thinking: we'll know what he really thinks if it shows up in his competition shooting.
I wonder how much 'retraining' this rifle would require?

He could be referring to actual rifle length AR's, where it would be at a disadvantage to them (sight radius). I don't know the sight radius of the Tavor, but it's possible it may even be shorter than a 16" carbine.

No, the short overall length makes it pivot very easily in close work. This short overall length also applies to distance shooting as a longer weapon is easier to control muzzle movements which should help with longer distance accuracy.
Shorter guns are more suited to CQB and longer rifles are more suited to distance accuracy for some reason. ;-)
As for Jerry shooting it in a match...
Watching Jerry on the video, knowing what the Pro Tour stages are like, seeing his splits and knowing him a bit, i "think" he would want a few thousand rounds downrange and the difference would have to be at least a second on a 12 second, 20 round course before he considered it, Since the last Pro Tour event is towards the end of the season and then the $50K payoff is in Vegas, considering his age and the many times he has said he does not know how many more years he can keep up the schedule, he might actually do it. The barrels have been getting shorter and more violent in recoil on the Pro Tour. He may have landed on something that will give him an edge. If he thinks so, that trigger is getting a workout and I'll be he can go sub 0.10 splits with a tuned trigger. That had to be one of the flatest recoiling short barrel configs i have ever seen and i could see Jerry was surprised and excited about it.
Jerry is of course sponsored by S&W, so he would not just do it on a hunch. The timer would have to prove out. All that said, and knowing many of the other Pro Tour competitors, if he went into the last match and got a top 5 finish, that would pretty much guarantee that he stays in the top half of the 30 man Vegas ladder. He is currently 14th and there are 6 guys with only 2 matches, 3 or 4 of whom will move past Jerry pushing him to the bottom half of the bracket. He has to do something to stay in the top half. Showing up with a Tavor and crushing the bracket will cause a lot of consternation and it might make a few guys trip up. This all could be a clever rope-a-dope by the crafty veteran as well.
As for the bull-pup/sniper/long range issues, some of you get it, some of you are talking apples and oranges...
The short rifle requires Jerry to pull his support hand IN which reduces the stability and ability to hit WITH speed at distance. There is a crossover point, and Jerry just thinks it is at about 200 yards. Feel free to disagree, but when you get to the level Jerry is, the speed most mere mortals have pushes the equipment demands well beyond where the average guy can even tell the difference. Also getting a bi-pod out far is another speed vs. stability issue. A bolt gun, prone, not even close to the speed at which Jerry needs to hit to stay in the hunt for wins.
Nothing to do with sight radius as Jerry only shoot ARs with optics or red dots.

Interesting analysis, thanks!
you think a longer rifle is better suited for distance due to muzzle movements? i think the complete opposite. now if you are talking a 20 inch versus a 16 inch then fine, but a 16 inch versus a 16 inch you want that barrel in closer to the shoulder and very close muzzle to the stability hand. its much easier to control a muzzle that the blast is right next to where you are holding versus one that is 12 inches in front of the hand.

Got mine today. Trigger wasn't any worse than any other bullpup. Nice and accurate.
