View Full Version : Gen 4 Glock 19 question?
When the generation 4 glock 17/19 came out, I heard a lot of problems as far as the recoil spring was concerned. Ftf, fte etc.... my question is, does anyone know if these problems have been addressed? I plan on buying one from Neves, 398.00! Can't beat that price. Just wanted to know if the gen. 4 are fixed? I always ran generation 3. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The company has tried a variety of different recoil spring assembly (RSA) variants trying to alleviate various problems users have experienced. Adding to the trouble has been the need for different RSAs for guns with and without a properly counterbored spring box (aka, “nose ring”).
Finally, they’ve got it all figured out and Glock is announcing a free “exchange program” for any gen4 Glock owner. There is now just one RSA per model, regardless of whether the slide was counterbored for the RSA or not.
All you need to do is contact Glock at 1-877-745-8523 with your serial number and model number. They will send you a replacement spring and a pre-addressed envelope to return the old one. For details, you can visit TeamGlock.com.

After going through four revision on their recoil spring system, they finally got it all figured out. Buy that G19 Gen 4 with confidence.
Thanks so much for the quick replies, I love glocks and have never had too be nervous before lol. I will pick it up with confidence. Thanks again all :-)
Google turned up a Uniform company for Neves. Where is this company with the 398.00 dollar glock. I will buy my first glock if I can get one at that price and someone will do the transfer. I like to give dontations for good service BTW.

Neves is a uniform company. They're off 50 something and Osage. They sell glocks for $395 if you meet specific qualifications.
They're back ordered several MONTHS.

My G19 has no problems. And I shoot regularly. If your looking for a Glock email Mike at Prestige Firearms in Lochbuie.

I have one of the early production gen4 of both the 17 and 19. Both have worked flawlessly with factory ammo.
Ok, thanks for the info, do you think the problems were just blown out of proportion through the internet?

Judging from the arguing on glocktalk? Yes...
They'll even drag gen 3 into it.
Yeah, I heard that as well, heard the late model gen. 3 was bad. Lol, funny cause I had a few of them, never a problem.

From that site, "GLOCK is replacing the RSA in all Gen4s sold before July 22, 2011 at no cost." That sounds like anything made after July 22, 2011 has the latest spring assembly.
It also gives the 877 number to call for how to get a replacement.
Stay Cool.

Would love to swing by Neve's and pick one up at that price, it can be tough (impossible) to buy from them as a civilian though.
And if they are back ordered...
Their Springs shop is nice enough though.
I have never purchased a firearm at Neves, have any of you? If so how was your experience?

Unless you're a cop, ems, firefighter, licensed security, or fed.....
The $395 price does NOT apply to you.
If you didn't know about the discount I'm assuming that it won't apply to you.

I didn't know military was in there. But that makes sense.

Those guys that have claim to have zero problems... have your cases ejected properly in a uniform direction away from your face?
I am military so can use the discount. I would be interested in hearing about the brass to the face issue as
well.

In about 5k rounds, I've had about a handful (perhaps 10-15rds) that, instead of the regular ejection, ejected onto the top of my head.
BUT... They ejected the brass.

They function flawlessly. Buy one already and own the best pistol available on the market. In fact, buy two. Seriously. And if you can get a Blue Label one and want to sell it to me at cost, buy three.
Lol, sounds like a plan. Dumb question, what is the blue label?

Same gun, cheaper price: http://www.ar-15.co/threads/110139-Gen-4-Glock-19-question?p=1226651&viewfull=1#post1226651

I think that's the 'problem' lots of people are talking about online. I know on some rare occasions this was causing a jam situation but just the simple fact that the brass is ejected straight at the shooter's face is a problem that the previous generations weren't plagued with. I've got several Gen 4's that have this problem.

Bear arms had some.... 430 gen4 or 480 with night sights
Denver guns and Ammo also does mil discounts for the same rate
jensens up north has a good LE/mil program too (I've heard)
In all the years I have been eligible, I was only able to get my hand on one at this killer price. Most are sold within day of the FFL receiving them and neves has a three month backlog.

I love my 3 and I finally got curious enough myself and picked up the same. Mostly interested in the new backstraps.
Now I just need to get out and try it!

Update on my own Gen 4 experience - I've gotten out with it a couple of times.
For just shooting at the range, I think I like it more than the Gen 3. [Dunno] I'm shooting it better anyway.

I was concerned about the same thing, but if you go to glock.com they have a link to their spring exchange program. They send you the spring first so you don't have to be without an operating handgun. +1 for Glock customer service.
Plus the grip on the Gen 4 glocks feel great.
Since this thread was bumped I've got an update on my Gen4 G19.
As some may recall I had a G19 Gen4 that was throwing brass into my face. Neve's had Glock Days a while back so I went ahead and took them my G19 so that someone from Glock could look at it for themselves. He did and he confirmed that every part that was supposed to be updated already was. I indeed had every updated part that one could put in a G19 Gen4. He suggested I send it in for warranty. I took his advice and surprisingly the warrant process was rather painless. I called their customer service number, explained my issue and what had been done to attempt to correct it and he agreed that it needed to be sent in. I received a free overnight shipping label via email and sent it off. I received a phone call that it had been received and would be worked on. A few days later I received another phone call from the same guy who received it to say that the problem was identified and that one of their smiths had replaced several parts inside the firearm. He tested with 50rds of target and 50rds of defense ammo and then gave it back to the guy who was talking to me on the phone. He also looked it over, test fired it with 50/50 as well and was now waiting for his supervisor to do the same thing, sign off and then they could ship it back to me. I had it 2 days later as it went out the next morning via overnight air for free again. I received the firearm in less than two weeks (counting weekends) and that was for a know problem with an unknown fix. I had debated waiting until my XDs came back from the recall work but I'm glad I didn't. For those that aren't in the know that ended up taking nearly 2 months and that was a known problem with a known solution... assembly line style fix of sorts. Turns out their fix didn't work and long story short the delay was rather annoying. On top of that they do 2nd day saver shipping which means it has to be at your doorstep by 8:00pm. I thought I'd have my XDs back WAY before my G19 since I sent it in a week earlier and it was a known fix. I never had to send a Glock in for warranty in all my years of shooting them which is a good thing and now I know that their customer service, should you ever need it, is just as reliable as their firearms. Two thumbs up for Glock and one thumb up to Springfield Armory.
