Hey all,
My girlfriend's birthday is this weekend and she has wanted to see a moose in the wild ever since she first saw one in a zoo. I've heard Grand Lake can be a good spot to see them but if there are any suggestions for an almost guaranteed sighting, I would really appreciate it. I would prefer not to drive ALL day but I guess I can if there's a good probability of meese.
there are moose around rainbow lakes north of nederland - go in the evening or the morning -

Ive seen moose 3 out of 3 times that ive been around long lake, also in the nederland area.
Careful though, a angry moose is no joke.
Piney Lake is a pretty good area to see one.
Ever take her to Estes Park or RMNP to see elk? Usually best around or after Labor Day. They're awesome as well.

North park colorado is the moose view capital of Colorado. I've seen 20+ there; I always spot a few on my hunting and camping trips

Wrong pic. You may not want to see the other one, it's frightening.

If its yours you are talking about, that's more of a moosefly knuckle...
We have had 2 bulls hanging in the yard and surrounding area for the last week.
Have about a doxen + up here now. Momma's babies, bulls big and small.
Go to Alaska. You have to try to not hit one! They even have signs on the side of the highway that tell you how many moose kills for the year.
Laramie river valley if you want to go north a ways.

Lord, I hope Miss Canada won!
West side of RMNP and Long Draw Reservoir. Be patient. Moose doesn't want to be seen, you won't see them. For something so big, they can be very easy to miss.
I just read a young male black bear was sighted this morning in Broomfield near 136th and Sheridan. It reminds me of the two juvenile moose who were spotted near 144th and I-25 a couple of years ago.
Walden area is good.. Rabbit Ears has them if you go through at the right time.. Snowy Mt Pass just over the border in Wyoming

Nah, the other lady ate her....

I believe I would too!
Cousin took his wife to see a moose and it was also up near Grand Lake (but closer to Tabernash I believe).

I think you'd go after the biggin...

Hell yeah, thanks for all the help. I think we'll try out the Grand Lake area or that State Forest State Park
Lon Hagler has at least one.https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ctzb4ovd6ppkgd/2013-07-21%2006.53.52.mp4

The road to Long Draw Reservoir, Laramie River Road, and the State Forest are three places where your chance of seeing one is very high. They are also very close to one another. A couple of years ago we saw over a dozen along the road to Long Draw one evening.
The State Forest has a nice visitor center, they might be able to give you a specific location to check out.
Head up the Poudre Canyon and down into North park. Get there before dawn or just before dusk and you WILL see moose. Then just continue into Walden for lunch.
Actually 3 weeks ago on Highway 34 by Grand Lake and all around Grand Lake wife and I saw 8 moose in 2 days. 1 week ago saw 4 up there. A couple of days ago saw 2. Have a cabin up that way so go fairly often and this last month seems to be when they started showing up. Just look for cars pulled off the side of the road, we call them moosers.

My wife and I have seen moose on two occasions just be fore Walden when heading up to Steamboat, both times in July. Saw one on a back road near a irrigation canal east of Greeley once, kind of a weird place but there it was. Lots of moose in Yellowstone.

I heard there were only 8-12 in Yellowstone. Can't remember if it was a legit source but I didn't see any up there last year... I did see a black wolf though.
