I took this girl out a few times by now, nice girl, i really like her. But today she saw my hoster at my place and immediately start whining about how it's not ok to have guns like that and it kill kids.... I didn't take that very well, i just didn't say argue back.

I am going to move on from her. But am I the only one who is like this about guns and girls?

I wouldn't give up too easy. Take her shooting, and if she is still fervidly anti, leave her out there.

My wife wasn't anti-gun, but she sure wasn't pro-gun either. Now she argues with not only her anti-gun friends, but with her own family. They aren't all lost causes.

Now religion is another issue.

Bitches be crazy...

But seriously, I was in the Army when I married a girl that I had no idea didn't like firearms. When I found out, I didn't push it because I love her. Over time we worked it out and today she won't shoot, but she doesn't freak out about me carrying out taking our boys shooting. She even suggested our youngest buying his own rifle shocker of my life, but obviously we've crossed the bridge!

Most women are lukewarm on gun issues, they ain't into guns just like how guys ain't into flowers. But that girl was just brainwashed by Fiers Morgun and other media craps.

I agree with many of who have already said to turn and run...and fast. However...there is always the option of drilling the gal before cutting it loose, but only if you yell, "They can have my guns when they pry it from my cold dead hands!" while doing so, and wearing a cross bandoleer of belted ammunition, kevlar helmet and combat boots. Just sayin'.

I wouldn't say guns > girls but guns > whiny-ass girls. I've never felt the urge to lock lips with a firearm yet although I have seen a few that set my heart racing almost as much as seeing Kate Beckinsale in her leather Underworld getup or Cheryl Ladd in her white bikini ...

I had a similar issue with my wife (when we were dating) except it involved motorcycles. "You love your motorcycles more than me". I said you say motorcycles and you mean me, you say me and you are talking about motorcycles, the two will always be inseparable, so either accept that there will always be a motorcycle in the garage or be off with you. First and last time we had the argument. Been packing her with me for 33 years now, best passenger to ever sit on the pillion.

And she shoots too, qualified at 380 out of 400 at her CCW training.

A few tidbits of advice from your ole uncle Zundy (former man-whore turned devoted husband).

Don't discuss politics with girls you're just screwing.

Don't try to turn girls you're just screwing into actual girlfriends.

Don't get into a serious relationship with a woman that you have any major disagreements with on things that are important to either of you.

Most women/girls in college towns (in the Front Range) have been polluted by all the liberal crap that is everywhere you look. The Fort use to be a pretty normal town 20+ years ago but has become more and more like Boulder.
Go north to Wyoming; on a second date with a gal from there we went shooting. That’s was 20 yrs ago and we’re celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary in 2 weeks. We have still have "shooting dates" to get away from our kids......

The only thing that matters is what is upstairs. If she is smart and rational (as rational as a woman can be) then I would say give it a little time. If you question her decision making ability or would consider her not the smartest peanut in the turd then I would send her packing. Honestly find yourself a smart girl that is gainfully employed and go from there. Anything else is either a waste of time or a bumpier road to get to the same place. A smart woman will be able to look at guns from other perspectives and make the right conclusion in time. Dumb ones will leave you with a messy divorce and a .357 ish size hole in your wall. (I might be speaking from experience)

When I met my wife she was quite involved in the democrat party and was anti gun. However I romanced her, and exposed her to firearms in a fun way. Took her shooting a couple times and she loved the heck out of it because she realized that it was challenging and she was good at it, but she also realized the firearm is not the threat but bad people. Eventually bought her a 9mm and AR 15hen we were dating . Basically our range time changed her thoughts about firearms. I had a similar experience to the op when she 1st saw a S&W Model 19 sitting on the table in my living room however I guess how I handled the situation was the key. I just decided that she was worth at least trying to change her view on this issue. As we have moved through the years my wife's political views have changed to being more conservative and she does like to shoot. She also changed her political affiliation to Independent. I don't believe she likes how the current Demoncrats have evolved so much to the left. I believe marriage and children change people and how they look at the world. Now 12 years ago when I was doing the online dating thing, I did dump or steer clear of woman who were anti 2nd, and some pretty hot ones at that. There are many who will not compromise on any issue, and they are not worth the time. As the previous poster said it counts on how smart a woman is and her willingness to look at things from another prospective and that is also a 2 way street!

Gentlemen - After reviewing this thread I see it's time to remind everyone of two important facts:

(1) We have wonderful female, i.e. LADY, members on this site
(2) This site is a "Family Site".

While we let a LOT of stuff get posted that is inappropriate, we have to draw the line somewhere. Many of the posts in this thread can easily be deemed offensive by our members.

Let's rein in the hormones and try to conduct ourselves with some civility.

As to the OP: Give her 1 more chance. Offer to take her out shooting to understand what it is she's ignorantly opposed to. If she refuses, or the trip to the range doesn't change her opinions, it's time to dump the kool-aid drinker.

My wife isn't anti-guns, she just has no interest in them. Has no problem with me and the boy owning them and is always bugging us to go shooting to get us out of her hair. But many years ago, a friend of hers blew his brains out and she had to clean up the mess. That kinda soured her on guns, but she doesn't give me shit about them.

Of course, she hasn't seen them all together at once either.....

I think there is a lot to factor in and think about. If she is opposed to firearms it could be as a couple others mentioned from her exposure or lack of exposure to them. Its a good test case to see what kind of person she is in general, a good indicator of the type of person she is. Is she totally closed minded? Is she open to discussion and can see your point or why someone would own firearms? Is she rational and thinking, is she easily swayed by what the masses is shown or does she think for herself....

It would give you a way to gauge how she'd view things if you were to move forward...

Probably a good call. Freaking out over a holster is not a good sign. My current girlfriend was on the fence about guns and when she saw one of my AR's for the first time she told me that it made her a little uncomfortable. But by my birthday she bought me a lower, so it is working out great. She still is not a fan of shooting, but she knows I like it and occasionally buys me gun parts and ammo if she finds it on sale somewhere. She asked me the other day if I would teach her how to shoot so that she could go with a bunch of her girlfriends and not be scared. Here is how I handled that:

http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu288/harthand/2_zps987a2aff.jpg (http://s656.photobucket.com/user/harthand/media/2_zps987a2aff.jpg.html)

I'd go with this approach. Let her know you enjoy the sport of shooting. Phrase it carefully, but ask if she's ever shot a gun, and offer to take her on a safe, controlled trip to the range to let her experience it, so she'll be able to understand firearms better. Be very neutral in how you phrase everything. If she flat out refuses, buh-bye. If she accepts, take her, do minimal safety training so you don't overwhelm her, just enough so she can get up to the line and shoot a couple times. Then gauge her reaction after she's done. That will help guide you in the future there grasshopper.

It's amazing to me how many women and minorities are anti-gun... if only they read an accurate history book and realized that gun control was initially used to keep slaves from revolting and women from having any type of authority or say in politics/culture.

Tisk, tisk, tisk.

Wife was anti-gun when we first met, and now she won't leave the house without her favorite .380.

She just won't know until she tries. But kudos to sticking with your guns, so to speak.

Perfect example is old Imperial Japan, they set up the Samurai class as the only one to bear arms, and everyone else below Samurai have to bow down to the samurais and their feudal lords, especially women.

I believe the main difference is if you're only interested in casual dating, or if you're looking for something more serious. I got tired of discovering that some of the girls I dated had views that were opposed to mine more than a few weeks after we'd started dating, not because I had any real intention of getting serious with them but it was at best annoying. After I decided I was done with the casual dating thing and was actually thinking about something more serious, I decided to make sure I didn't have this issue again.
So I talked to this girl on our second date, and said "Look, just on the chance that this might get anything more than just casual I want to make sure that there aren't going to be any issues that would cause a real hardship. I'm not saying it WILL get serious, but just in case..." And I ticked off what I considered important; told her I enjoyed shooting and owned guns. That I owned and enjoyed riding motorcycles. That I was military, and a little of what that involved. Four wheeling/off roading, hunting, you get the picture. She turned out not to have any objections or issues with any of it, and it helped me to get to know her better and her, me. She also turned out to be the girl I married (16 years now). And later on, she said that she agreed with how I went about doing that little bit of "interviewing", and my reasons for it.

A few weeks after we started dating, she outshot my best friend while he and his wife (who set us up) were out off-roading and shooting with us. With a .44 Mag. His... And our first Christmas together, my Christmas present from her was a Stainless Springfield 1911. That sealed the deal for me, right there!
