Got this in an email.

Dear NAGR supporter:

The Senate may be dragging its feet with Eric Holder's confirmation, but the utopian police-state visions this enemy of freedom salivates over are stampeding through Congress -- with or without his participation.

Have you heard of H.R. 45?

Imagine the following:

Universal gun registration

Federal firearm licenses

Fines and jail sentences for private gun sales

And that's just the first 6 pages of this bill!

Thanks to Representative Bobby Rush (D-IL), you won't have long to "imagine" Eric Holder's bureaucracy "issu[ing] regulations governing the licensing of possessors . . . and recorded sale of qualifying firearms . . . as the Attorney General deems necessary" (p. 22) while tracking every firearm transaction and gun owner in the nation.

Because unless we do something about, we'll find ourselves holding big red REJECTED notices from Eric Holder.

Get the full scoop by reading Luke's commentary and the full 26-page text of the bill at NAGR's blog.

I think the mods here should/could put a list of congress critters phone numbers and emails readily available for writing. I know where they are but they are a PITA to find every time we need them.

Here's my favorite part....

No co-sponsors....yet! Given what we've witnessed this week with the "Pelosi" stimulus package, the Dems will likely "pile on" a bill like HR45. Unfortunately, we only have two reps in CO with an (R) by their name, so fighting any new anti-gun legislation is going to be an uphill battle.

The Dims aren't the problem of gun control they are just notorious for it. Some are pro-gun and some can be swayed. We need to work on all of them and don't count them out because they are Dems. A lot of what dems care about is power, power over you, power over the poor, controlling everything for your own good. It might help to remind them that gun control is a looser idea and they have a good chance of looseing their job if they support it. A little reality goes a long way sometimes

Send the president a message. He might listen if we send him enough letters.
