Not a fun morning. After my 1st alarm I went into crazy real dream mode. My lovely brain decided to create a scenario where two people broke into my house while we were all home (myself, wife and ~2 year old). Worst part of the dream...I couldn't do a damn thing about it. I got my gun and shot at them, but the bullets just dribbled out of the front of my gun. I pulled my knife, I couldn't even break the skin. I tried punching/kicking/elbowing/kneeing as hard as I could throw them, and they landed with about as much force as a soft pillow. I even snuck up behind one of the guys and put him in a rear naked choke, and he just sat there for minutes on end with no effect.

Not a fun dream at all. Especially since it was in that super real dream state. Anybody else have any dreams like that?

I've had plenty of dreams where physical actions are slow motion or zero-gravity, and at least one involving shooting...but nothing that frustrating. In mine, I fired 2 shots, hit with both, but they passed through like clean pin holes. The perp basically shrugged them off and it took a mob of people to tackle and disarmed them then put handcuffs on. So in essence, mine seemed pretty real too.

Never use your airsoft or rubber knife for SD, especially when the intruder is a superhero

or the dream where you're fighting the bad guys, in your underwear, in school! Yeah, it's amazing what our brain comes up with sometimes...

I'd tell your wife it is a sign you need a new more powerful gun, a sweet knife and to take self defense type classes.

Makes sense, dreams are something whipped up by evolution to train your brain to react to bad situations. If you were able to remember most of your dreams, they'd all be you in difficult situations, and your brain gets to try different scenarios on getting you out of trouble. In your case, what would you do if your weapons didn't work...

Or it could be a sign that you have a fear of your junk not working.

The libs are right I guess... Your all paranoid.. In my dreams I'm always the hero and my Glock generally cuts the perp completly in half.. jk

I have dreamed plenty of times that I can't wake up to the situation at hand, even though when my wife nudges me due to a bump in the night, I'm down stairs clearing the kids rooms in secs..

Guess my dream this morning was nowhere near as bad. I had a toilet plugged up and no matter how much I plunged it would not unclog.

I've had the dream where people are breaking in to the house and the gun magically has a 200lb trigger. I have to death squeeze with both hand trigger fingers together to get it to discharge, then I am not accurate because the trigger pull is too heavy.

I get that one a lot myself.

You sound like a man with some background (knowledge) in this stuff. Because I've experienced these dreams too, I've studied it a bit.

Psychologists say that these sort of dreams are our sub-conscience mind playing out our feelings in a range of possibilities such as: feelings of frustration, concerns of inadequacy, helplessness, impotence (non-sexual), ineffectualness, a sense of powerlessness & lack of control over ourselves.

They express our fears.

In these scenarios, we know that we have to stand up for ouselves and our families, yet we sub-conscientiously wonder if we've prepared enough, if we're strong or smart enough to handle the situations that are most important to us: protecting ourselves & our families. We could win triathlons & Ironman competitions and be UFC champions. We could possess only the best, most reliable equipment & weapons. We could train for every scenario until we could do it in our sleep (or, in our dreams..) Yet, we can always ask ourselves if it is enough. This uncertainty causes us to doubt our own abilities. We may project certainty and confidence outwardly, yet our sub-conscience knows better.

Because of the uncertainty that real-world situations carry with them, we can never be 100% certain that we're prepared to handle what's thrown at us. It's that uncertainty that our minds play against us. I'm somewhat OCD (yeah, "anal-retentive") - uncertainty does not play nicely with OCD.

You have to work on your lack of confidence in your ability to overcome the conflict played out in the dreams. Realize that while you can't prepare for every contingency, your efforts are sufficient.

Well, it looks like our hour is up. Please see my receptionist to schedule another appt. with Head-shrinker Ginsue if you feel the need.

You can't properly prepare for something you have not experienced and you can not trust that you will perform correctly even after you experienced it, even after many times... Bottom line shit may happen... All you can do is prepare for the worst within your means.
