I am going to purchase one of these two pistols in the next week or so for a CCW gun. Any advice from those that have owned/shot them both? Thanks in advance.

I have owned both. Still have a shield (bought it for the wife) but may sell it as well. Have very few rounds through the shield, only shot it to get a feel for it.

Can't say anything bad about either one. It really comes down to what feels comfortable to you.
Love the feel of the PPS but hated the trigger guard mag release. When you have 10 pistols with traditional thumb mag releases it's hard to get used to something different. It is also "taller" then the Shield or XDs. I did have issue with some of the backstaps not fitting correctly which will not allow the gun to fire. They sent me a new ones which fixed problem. Just something to be aware of.

Like i said, have barely shot the shield and have no complaints, just not feeling the M&P grip. Personal preference. Really like the XDs/m texturing on the grips. Wife feels the same. Probably going to sell my shield and get her a XDs 9. My carry is the XDs 45

Shield. I play with these two guns regularly and the shield feels better and is cheaper. Both will work, but we literally cannot keep the shields in stock. We have had the XDS 9s in stock for a while too. They are nice, but a tad bit bigger than the shields and PPSs.

Hey Kid, I have a Shield 40 if you want to meet up and put a few down range. I like the Shield enough that I may pick up a second in 9 so the 40 can have a little brother.

S&W hands down.
Mechanically simpler
Better factory support

Shield by far, for all of the reasons stated above plus one. The Walthers these days have a cheap plasticy feel to them. The trigger guard mag release was also a deal killer for me, it is just not a natural motion when changing mags.

Shield BUT given you have comparable SIGS you dont need it[Coffee]

PPS hands down. For the size its one the most accurate pistols I own.
