I completed the PADI e-learning and the plan was to do the pool work here in Denver and open water dives in Hawaii to cert. Well we ran out of time and ended up doing two Discovery Dives in Kona Hawaii last week instead which kicked ass! Props to Kona Honu Divers could not have had a better experience......31965

Used to dive a lot. Now,, not so much. Have a kid, own a business.... yada yada time and $$ gets away from ya. Did my certifacation dives at Kingfisher pond at Chatfield. Absolute piece of crap body of water, but it was close and I got it done. Was cheaper then going to blue hole, and much more convienent.
Diving is amazing. Saw lots of cool stuff and hope to get back under water some day.

I'm going for my rescue diver in Sept if things hold up -- but it depends on if I can get my wife to do 3 days of diving (I'm already advanced and just need to do my water work for Rescue, she is 3/4 through the way her advanced and needs to do a day of diving to finish that up first).

If your diving in Kona try Jacks Dive Locker -- really good people.

Always wanted to get into SCUBA since I was a kid watching The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau, finally got certified after I turned 30 and loved it. Just need to find time to get back into it.

Yea its looking like Aurora Reservoir for me........... I'm excited to get that part done & over also going to invest in a GoPro. We booked with another dive shop in Kona but we got a call that the boat broke down and they had to cancel so Kona Honu Divers was the second option not knowing anything about it I was very happy, the crew was great and extremely knowledgeable.

Grew up on the ocean and have been diving for about 30 years. Don't think much about it any more since I am land locked here in Colorado. Have dived all along the Florida coast as well as Hawaii, Japan, and many small Pacific islands. Diving on WWII ship wrecks in the pacific has been something I will never forget. If you ever get the chance you have to do it.

Yep haven't been for awhile either. Right out of high school I became interested in scuba diving. Worked my way up through my PADI instructor certification with A1 scuba and taught for awhile but burnt out quickly teaching the same basic open water certification over and over. Decided to go to school to get my degree in marine technology. Immediately was hired on and went to work for Oceaneering International in Morgan City Lousiana. Worked offshore in the gulf and all over the world for almost ten years. Made a bunch of $$$, learned a lot, was quite the adventure but like most commercial divers there comes a time when domething inside you just snaps and you look up towards the surface and just hope you make it back one more time. Ended up buying buying a piece of property a long way from the ocean! Still "sport" dive but like I said haven't been in awhile.

Me at 23 years old ha ha!

Underwater certified welding many years ago. After you have to work underwater then the fun goes away. Haven't been down in many many years.

Ditto. Grew up in Hawaii and spent a lot of time snorkeling but didn't start diving until I was stationed in Kaneohe in the early 80s. Worked out of a dive shop and was able to get my PADI Master Diver certification, along with Dive Master and Instructor credentials. Like Twitchy, teaching got old. Career in the Marine Corps allowed me to dive in some great places like Okinawa, Guam, Philippines and the Great Barrier reef in Australia (capstone of my diving career), along with places in CONUS like Monterey, CA, NC and FL. Doing a 25 year anniversary trip with my wife in Feb and might be able to get a dive in Turk.

I don't have the bug as bad as I used to, but enjoy it when the opportunity presents itself. Favorite dive is at night.

Basic and Advanced cert in Panama after Operation Just Cuz. Night dives around the Canal were incredible, always thought they would clean up something that sank so near the canal.
Miss diving, and salt water, terribly. Now kids, guns, and bikes seem to take up all my time and money. Maybe one of my sons will find themselves at a coastal college I can visit!

Good job on your certification, and have a great time.

I got certified this past winter. Did my training and first two dives at the Denver Aquarium through A1 scuba. Did my last two dives in Cozumel which is a great place to dive with the added benefit that it is also one of the cheaper places to dive. Had a blast and can't wait to go again.

In Cozumel with the GoPro.. need a color filter for the next trip..

+1 for cozumel. great dive for the price. been there twice now. I bet that is the same shark as my video!?!? lol
def90-FYI, I had to use a lot of color manipulation in iMovie to make the colors look somewhat right. I was using a ContourGPS.

Been a divemaster through PADI and NAUI since I was 16. Spent too many hours scraping barnacles off the bottom of other people's boats in Palm Beach. I'll have to take the GoPro next time.

First real vacation in 3 years (fuckin' Dodd-Frank killed the points program on my business debit card...fuckin' Democrats [Mad] ). Going on a Groupon deal of all things. Baggage allowance would mean removing body parts to make weight, so you prolly don't wanna do that...[ROFL1]

So you diving the Blue Hole or heading to some other areas near the reef?
I love how every dive area has a "Blue Hole"
[hahhah-no]
and no I am not losing/donating any bodyparts.

We're going to a place just SE of Belize City called Dangriga...not sure where that is in relation to the Blue Hole, mostly going to relax, probably dive 3 or 4 days.

Got certified when I was 16, which was about 10, wait, 15, oh hell, about 40 years ago...

Been cave diving since the late 90s. Head to Florida or Mexico once a year to satisfy the cave diving itch.

Over years have dove Saipan, Hawaii, Maui, Lanai, American Samoa, Cozumel, Channel Islands (California), Monterey Bay and of course Colorado lakes, sometimes with ice on them.
