Minimum 9 month wait (the lady [ROFL3] when she said this) with 11-12 months the norm as it currently stands.

Well I'm glad I mentally set my "build" timeframe to be 18-24 months. But yikes!
I finally hit that "the next thing I need" stage with a suppressor being up next. Great :/
Even the time to get a correction done has gone up. I spoke to them about a week ago about correction times. It used to be 2 or 3 days plus mail time. They told me it is 30 to 60 days currently. I just received a Form 1 back after a correction. The correction time was 37 days from the time I mailed it back to the when I received it approved.

11 months as of 14:10 today. Mine went pending March 15 estimated time for approval is Mid feb. Unless Damian is calendar challenged. It did take 2 weeks from check cashed to pending. Either way they're already on hand, just can't shorten them for a while.
I'd be afraid I might lose interest before the form came back... I wouldn't be opposed to another 5.56 can but the wait times are getting a tad absurd.

With wait times like that why don't they hire more employees?

Do you really think the current Anti gun government we have in place is going to up there budget to pay for that? They have already been hit by cuts because sequestration I believe?
I posted this before but this will give you up to date tracking info. Looks like they are approving late December, early January forms now. so sitting around 7-8 month turn around for those that submitted around the first of the year.

Civilian hiring freeze right now.
The NFA Branch has always been slow. Many moons ago most all stuff was years to get approved.

It's really amazing in this day and age of computers, internet, and shared information that it takes them this long to process a form. This should be a couple week process at most.

Seems like stamps that went out early/mid December are starting to trickle through.
Take site with a grain of salt though. Use just as a go by.

It's been pretty accurate from what I have seen. It's the best gauge on times I have been able to find. I mailed mine late December and it just got approved on the 30th of July which is pretty much what the tracker is showing.

Now I wish I would have sent 5 forms in instead of 2. If I had an extra $200.00 I'd send another form 1 in on Monday. This is fucking ridiculous. A CBI takes an average of 2 minutes to be completed. The proses for NFA backround check CAN NOT take more than a few minutes longer. There are supposedly about 150,000 in queue. Times that by 10 minutes per form (including the time making sure it is filled out properly). Lets say each examiner approved 100 forms per day. That's about 700 forms a day. Even at that rate it would take about 53 months to approve everyone in queue. With the very very small number of examiners the wait times are actually understandable. Shut down USPS and take those employees and hire them as examiners, and it would be a 1 week wait time...
