So I've been looking online here and there and am trying to get better input on the rem 597 hb or other models. It's well noted that the extractor and magazines have trouble with older models. I've seen a couple threads started about this gun but the most recent being from 2012. It's my understanding remington is onto a new gen magazine since then. I guess I'm not to worried about the magazine out of the box that can be dealt with but what about accuracy and feel of the gun shooting holding and impressions.

I know the 10/22 is hard to beat being tried and true, but if you have experience with both that would be valuable info[Coffee]

Thanks!

I can't be much help on the recent production rifles but I did own one of the first ones in 22LR and 17HMR. The 17HMR was complete crap!. The 22LR had the magazine problems. Remington replaced the 1st generation mags with 2nd gen and then replaced the 2nd gen with third gen. At that point the gun would function but it was nothing special. Check out rimfirecentral.com. there is tons of info on these guns in the Remington section and I'm sure you will find info on the current guns. If you could find one of the Thompson-Center 22 Autos, grab it! By far the best 22 auto I have ever shot.
