The author claim to be a US Marine "CTMarine87" from CT. The title of the article is “2nd Amendment Misunderstood”. iReport is a sub-section of CNN website, where anyone can submit articles and the publisher can approve it and publish it on the website.
He pretty much said we all misunderstooded the 2A. "Well regulated militia" means that only those who are trained by the gov't can have guns, full auto too with whatever mags you want. And everyone else should be confined with "hunting" only long arms and personal "defense" pistol with "low capacity" mags.
Judge it yourself.

It's a good thing that the founders & defenders of this country didn't think that's what it meant!!

Since when were militias trained by the government. You might make the argument that only trained people should have guns, as militias generally had some sort of training. Where does he think we will get the money to train every adult in the country and run all those tests. In a way it would be nice if every adult, when they signed up for the draft at 18, would have to go to some sort of weapons orientation to get somewhat comfortable around guns. Maybe the country wouldnt be so scared of them now. I still fail to see how the mag capacity has anything to do with lowering violence.

You can google his username, a facebook page popped up, not sure if it's really him tho. On the facebook page the guy's job is "Lance Corporal at Marines".

Have you heard what Joe Biden said? "It wasn't intended to lower violence, it was intended to save one more child when school shooting happens."

Clayton Cramer, Eugene Volokh, Vanalstyne, Dave Hardy ... we have serious, Supreme Court cited, scholarly historical work supporting our position.

Ignore this fascist twit.

Just because he's one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children doesn't mean he knows a damn thing about guns, history or law.

Ignore the idiot.

The picture of a Marine PFC on the parade deck in either San Diego or Parris Island just after graduating from boot camp. Either the photo is dated or this isn't a "retired" Marine and someone who has done 20 years of research on the topic.

Yup, and they can also claim awards that they've never earned too with no repercussions.

(BTW, did I tell ya'll I got the Gold Star for Meritorious Armchair Generalship? >.>)

There are volumes of documents written by the Founders themselves that thoroughly explain what they meant.....and that ain't it.

Christopher Dorner was ex military and we all read his bullshit manifesto that included his personal feelings towards the 2A.

It doesn't matter if you are or have been in the military to be anti-gun, although very low numbers I would think. They do exist. I have had the unlikely pleasure of meeting a dedicated hardcore Marine veteran a long time ago who was very adamantly anit-2a and got in an argument with my father.

The article was not totally anti-gun but not totally pro gun either, he was sitting on the pointy thing at the top of the fence.

There will be both types on each side of the line. Those that will come get your guns and those that stand with you! Those of you who believe all of the military men and women will support your cause, and stand with you against gun confiscation; let this be a wake up call. There are always those that will use the excuse; I was just doing what I was told! As well there are those that believe this way; even in the Marines.

They are not all on your side; there are many more out there who believe this way! Now, tell me how you know he is a Marine, as you implicate in your post?

He claimed that in his article and posted photo of him as a Marine.

He claimed that in his article and posted photo of him as a Marine.

Many do; have you heard of stolen valor? Or are you saying he is a Marine cause you bought into him saying so? I guess what I am saying is; don't believe everything you hear. Verify it.....

Edit: I didn't see the pic, hence I can see why you said that. Either way doesn't prove the guy who wrote it, is a Marine.

Also, I do believe in somethings he has said, such as; returning to a nation of militia men. I think it would be nice to train to be militia men all the way from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Start the indoctrination early,... Now a days, it's; report your parents, guns are bad, gun free zones, etc. That is bad if you ask me and on the wrong path.

The military is generally a cross section of society. As a group individual members definitely tend towards certain views but there are always outliers.

Also don't forget the the military is one of the most anti-second amendment environments a person can mature in. No CCW on military installations. No privately owned weapons in barracks. Register weapons in base housing. etc. etc.

So while this guy's views are certainly confused (and historically inaccurate), I'm sure he's not the only service member who thinks that the only good guns are guns under government control. Just look at how many Flag Officers came out in support of more gun control after the Newtown shooting.
