Can't imagine they'd actually use a 22 on a steer like that. LOL.

They've been using 22 for cow for many years. The ear canal goes to the brain

I worked for awhile in a small slaughterhouse/meat processing place, and they killed everything with a .22 rifle right in the forehead. Saw a few big, old bulls and large hogs that didn't go down easily, but cows and small hogs/pigs usually took only one shot.

A penetrating captive bolt is the way to go and they are usually powered by compressed air or a .22/.25 cal blank.

had a big 'ol one eyed herford bull break through the floor of the trailer years ago. Sheared a front leg right off. Took him straight to the butcher and after temp. probin' him, it took two .22lr shots to kill him. First one never even phased him. Thick skulls they do have.
