My Smith & Wesson M and P shield malfunctioned recently. It locked the slide about a quarter of an inch out of battery with a live round in the chamber and would not open. I contacted Smith & Wesson and they said to send it back for repair after taking it to a gunsmith to get the round out of the chamber. I was able to get around out of the chamber and will have to send it back after the 14th. My question is, when I send it back, do I need to have an FFL set up for them to send it back to me or do they send it straight to my house? Thank you guys.
I'd have Bert take a quick look at it. Might save some time and effort on your part. Would be silly to send it back only to find out there isn't anything wrong with it and you just had a bad round or something.

It's my understanding, S&W will provide a shipping label and there is info that you have to include inside the box (with no mention of guns on the outside of the box). Then, if they repair it, they ship it straight back to you, but if they replace it, it has to go to an FFL and you'll have to pay the BGC fees again.

Thanks buff. Hoser, they were Remanufactured loads that I got at the gun show. I think that may be part of the problem.

Yup. Thats it.
Garbage in garbage out. Or almost out in this case...

Shoot reman ammo, have reman problems.
Chances are you got a round that had not been sized properly and stuck in the chamber
We can figure out if you have deeper issues than the ammo.
I am just down the road from Brighton.
Oh and BTW, if S&W is aware that the ammo was reman, they will repair it but at your expense. Reload voids their warranty.
Just had the same thing happen in my Smith AR with stupid reloads my department made us shoot in a rifle school. It happens more than I would expect when using reloads. Probably nothing at all wrong with the shield!
