Oh yeah. Did that a bunch at first. I used to leave my tumbler outside before I had a garage and squirrels ate my lid trying to get to the wallnut media.

Only for a day? I left one on for over a week!
Perty perty perty! Loves me some shiny brass.
Oh, BTW - these are cheap. I only use one pin, to turn it off. No need to "set the time" on it, just put the pin for however many hours you want it to run, I usually do 8 or so. And if you want to turn your lamps on and off while you're gone, you've got a timer to do so.

Oooooohhhhh, shiny! I used to do that, now I set the timer on my phone, then when it goes off, I say "What's the timer for?"! [Coffee]

I built a timer with a duplex receptacle with a 12 hour timer to plug in the tumbler. After I left one running all weekend one time while away camping. I find six to eight hours is usually enough but that there is some shiny brass.

As a matter of fact, I threw my .308 brass in my tumbler after you all left yesterday and it is still running in my shop! Thanks for reminding me! haha

Done this a few times. Killed a Dillon 500 letting it go overnight. overheated and fried the bearings. RCBS and Lyman tumblers have been 'forgotten' for 12-14 hours with no problems.

Wasn't sitting on carpet was it? That'll make 'em overheat. I prefer concrete so they can breathe.

I will tumble mine for 6-10 hours. Never 'forgotten' about it tho.
It hasn't been running, but my last batch has been sitting in the tumbler, in the media for a good two months now.

I got it out..... The decapping pin rod thingy was bent. Bent it more getting it out of the case.

I haven't bought new media in about 15 years. I usually tumble mine for about 17 days.

Haha. What you save in media costs you lose in electricity consumption!

What kind of media did you use?

Stainless media, 2 hours is about right for shiny brass. Longer if looking for a real polished look.
I have left the Midway USA vibratory running for about 24 hours a few times. Thing keeps on running. (not using it now though)
I had a 223 get stuck in a dillon die yesterday, I couldn't get the damned decapper out so its all in the teash now. I hated that damn die, I had problems with it since day one. The rcbs I replaced it with is so far so good.

Mine had nothing to do with the lube.... I broke a decapping pin on some brass I didn't look at... stupid..... Anyway... That also bent the entire rod.... The rod got stuck in the case and caused the stuck case.
Randy has one of those universal decappers. You end up with a bad case and it just pops the pin out. Reset the pin and you are good to go. He swears by the thing.

I figured as much. Had no idea he was a member here.
DOC...you need to get on CoD man!

Yeah he does. They look sweet, I can't wait to get one!

Me too, mine is a Lee. That's all I deprime with, I rarely deprime when sizing. But that's just because I'm anal and prefer my brass to be deprimed before tumbling.

I let mine run for about 24 hours once, then I got a timer like the one rondog posted.
