Headed for Ohio. Just got call my dad is being life flighted to Toledo after a fall down some steps.
After a good start to the day things turned shity prety quick.

Good thoughts and prayers inbound.
While I have a few minutes of private time sitting with my dad, I thought I'd take a minute to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
A quick update: Broken ribs and scapula, punctured lung and skull fracture. They removed one of the tubes from his head and he is reacting to pain stimuli. I believe, with slow progression and no major setbacks, our meeting with the Nuero surgeon Monday morning will be positive and we will not have to make a decision I never thought I'd have to consider. The DNR decision was painful enough. My wife and I will be having this discussion when I get home with all of our kids to prevent them from having these decision to agonize over.
Continued thoughts and prayers would be appreciated. It seems to be working!
Side note: The "Chapel" had a Koran but no Bible......until I brought it to the Chaplin's attention.
Peace, patience, and strength. We begin at different times and we end at different times. I'm glad you are with your Dad right now.

While I'm truly greatful for the kind words and prayers from this community it appears the fight is over. The family, as a whole, has decided to move my dad back to his hometown for his last days. The injuries were just to severe to make a recovery back to anything close to thecactive and brilliant man he was. We feel it was the correct decision and hopefully we all can find peace, quickly, with the decision.

Be with him every second you can. When the time comes for him to move on, know that his pain ends and he will be awaiting the rest of his loved ones someplace very special. Be at peace with your decision as it allows your father to move forward gracefully and with dignity.
Lean on us for your grief as you need, but mostly, lean on God.

After 9 days in hospice my dad has passed. He was surrounded by his wife of sixty years and all his children as he took his last breath and passed peacefully and pain free. After his memorial tomorrow and a couple more days of finishing off some of the affairs I'll be headed back to my second home. In a few weeks we will bring my mother out to stay with us through the holidays. Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers. Your words have helped through this difficult time.

Glad he was surrounded by family, I am sure he knew it. After watching 2 grandpas go, I am convinced they timed their passing. They were waiting for that last family member to arrive, or those words they needed to hear.
