"As I said at the National Defense University back in May, in meeting those threats we have to strike the right balance between protecting our security and preserving our freedoms."

Those that compromise such deserve neither.
Those that compromise such deserve neither.
...and they'll get neither but they are too ignorant of history to realize that.

Leave it to that dickhead to get it completely bassackwards.
I just don't understand the leftist mentality that doesn't get the more freedom and liberty you have, the more security you have?

They don't get it because that would mean critical thought and self reliance and hard work on their part, those virtues are anathema to the left

I had a bad feeling when Bush sold the American people the Patriot act. If anyone was questioning if they would be giving up liberty for the appearance of security, there can be absolutely no doubt now. In fact, its considerably worse than that - because of stupid leftist policies preventing profiling, researching known baddies like Tamerlan Tsarnaev, and real border and port security, we have the Boston Marathon bombings, the underwear bomber, the shoe bomber, and the times square bomber. The only reason the last 3 failed was because of their own incompetence, and nothing the Feds did.
Before the vote on the Gun bills this spring, at a local townhall in Louisville with my Dem reps Foote and Jones, Jones stated there must be a balance between security and freedom - citing the limit on the first amendment to not shout "fire" in a movie theater. This seems to be their constant justification for more government in the name of security.
