How long before we see this in Denver, Boulder, Ft Collins? Thankfully no one will be passing firearms around.

The idea of police passing out Doritos at a festival that celebrates pot, we're sure, is going to generate some buzz."

The idea isn't just to satisfy some munchies. The department has affixed labels to 1,000 bags of Doritos urging people to check out a question-and-answer post on its website, titled "Marijwhatnow? A Guide to Legal Marijuana Use In Seattle." It explains some of the nuances of Washington's law: that adults can possess up to an ounce but can't sell it or give it away, that driving under the influence of pot is illegal, and that — festivals aside — public use is illegal.

They forgot to mention that Federal law trumps state law and the DEA will kick their collective asses.

This may end up being a good thing though. Conservatives and Libertarians have been carping about the 10th Amendment for ages while liberals and other "low information" types have just looked at us with a vacant stare and accused us of "harshing their mellow". Maybe the conflict between their precious MJ laws and the Fed.Gov will wake these fools up to the purpose of and need for the 10th Amendment.

If nothing else it'll be fun to watch some hippies get their cars and homes stolen by the Federal Mafia.

I really need a history lesson on how the 10th amendment disappeared.

This won't be the case because the current administration has already said that they will leave the issue up to the states.

I've seen first hand dispensaries getting shaken down by local (ie city) governments who will go after them for any possible reason (like zoning law violations, legitimate or not) and tax/penalize the dispensary into bankruptcy, all while the politicians' country-club buddy law firms bill outrageous fees that get paid by the taxpayers. It's such a fucking scam.

[disclaimer: I don't care about either way about MJ sale/consumption and I've never done it myself]

I'd be willing to bet that in the long run this will save the department money. People always want to cut money on education/PR without thinking what it does in the long term.

Yeah, we burned $100 of diesel at a kids event, but we will save multitudes when someone's house doesn't burn down (especially since we are automatic mutual aide to 4 departments and county, and have on request agreements with about 4 others).

Same goes for the company I work for, if we get a new client we will cover the expense of an event in about a week of care (never a problem with our CEO, but mid levels don't seem to understand).

Yes, they'll remember this

The enemy of my enemy is my friend

The federal government is the enemy of each and every citizen. Team MJ will join up with Team Gun Rights and defeat the feds in court. They get to smoke dope, we get to buy brandy new MP5s just like the cops.

The current trend in Colorado paints a very different picture. Many folks in the pro-marijuana movement are vehemently opposed to guns and the 2nd Amendment in general. They may have gotten the government to allow them to smoke their dope but, these same folks are the ones that will clamor against your right to own firearms.

You are correct, I was just being hopeful.

And then they started raiding dispensaries in blue states anyway.

Has anyone ever seen the the Denver Post pics of the type of people that participate at these 420 events at the capitol????? Retards that can't wear their ball caps on straight OR why aren't they at their jobs and who lets employees take a day off for pot smoking. AGAIN, the fuckin Democrats are keeping these tards high and drunk and giving them checks TO BE NON PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS OF SOCIETY... It is the only way the democraps and get this stupid shit passed....

Honestly, maybe I'm missing something, but I think this is actually a cool idea. The cops are serving the people and helping keep them informed in way that the potheads will actually listen. Imagine if cops were out giving away free ear plugs with a label explaining the new gun laws so people didn't get popped for little dumb stuff.
