Looks like a Saiga 12 and a Savage bolt rifle were his firearms.

What makes you say this?
Sounds like suicide by cop.

"The first cop drove up. He jumped out, and he told the other cop to 'grab a long rifle,'" neighborhood resident Henry Frye said.
Not the "Assault Rifle", strange.
Casualties minimal, murderer pushing up daisies...no cops harmed. Turned out pretty damn good considering.

"Denver Police tweeted at 11:16 a.m. that the shooter was "down." The gunman was taken to the hospital in critical condition."
The police tweet now? The world gets lamer every day.
And here come the gun control attempts.

You mean people control attempts. Yep...be sure that Chickenpooper and his cronies are cooking up something. They've been fairly quiet for some time now and that scares me more. Like in a fight, if the enemy is shooting at me atleast I know where they are and what they're doing. it's when they're out of sight and quiet that bothers me.

I thought it was silly at first too. But it's nice for things such as amber alerts, dangerous situations, etc. Not everyone watches the news but you better believe people check their twitter 9 times a min. It allows the residents to have real time heads ups on situations in their community.

Twitter is stupid for celebrities, but for public service announcements, there is no faster way to get the word out to the maximum number of people.

Two thoughts, first on the incident - Active Shooter is becoming a way overused term. I hate the term active shooter anyway, Mass Violence is more appropriate for incidents like Newtown, Aurora, Columbine, Boston.
Twitter - It is the fastest way to get information, hands down. The media get their info that they report on the news from Twitter, so why wait for them to report "Twitter said this" That is not reporting that is regurgitation. Go to the source for the best most accurate info. You must follow the real sources of info though, not the BS people retweeting everything. I follow Colorado OEM, Adams County Sheriff, Jefferson County Sheriff, Larimer County Sheriff, and others where I live and work. I think I follow about 20 different agencies. That is what I use Twitter for, real time emergency info.
The reason it works is this - Take High Park, Waldo Canyon, etc., you have whistledicks posting hearsay information about the incident so in order to make sure the public is getting accurate information the agencies involved must get fast accurate info out of their own. The Public Information Officers for these agencies fight to gain control of the hashtags with real info, so info is actually shared faster with Twitter than before, therefore you have more accurate info in more timely manner.
If you use Twitter for nothing else use it for this, remember information is power, don't limit yourself just because you don't like it.
All that said Twitter can be bad if you follow the whistledicks. During Sandy FEMA had to create a website just to deal with all the bad rumors going around the twitterverse.

Web 2.0 was like 8 years ago. We're at least at Web v.4 now

I agree. I also like Dr. Grossman's reference: Active Murderer. I'm good with that. Call it like it is.

They're getting smarter and "they" are being coached... "They" are going to now focus on another type of firearm.... It's not going to be a battle of terms and description...

Nah, maybe v.2.4. It's all been evolutionary, not revolutionary.
...and are you guys talking about Lt. Col. Dave Grossman?
