View Full Version : Looking for suggestions to Buy AK 47
two or three months ago, i started to look for an AK 47, price was around $400, didnt get a chance to buy it back then.
I called them couple days ago and they said now it is $800!!.[Rant1]
Where (which store) do you guys think has best price?
Also which store has more rifle selections in Denver/Aurora or Colorado Springs?
I'm guessing COS, if you can find 'em anywhere.
we do have guys here that host builds, you might want to check into that, and build exactly what you'd like :)

I just got one off of GB today. A NIB Century GP 1975. Better than a WASR, and for just a small amount more. This one has the DCI receiver and US barrel. And no where near $800!

I as well have a GP1975, I got it from Specialty Sprorts here in the springs for $599. It came with a black Tapco stock set and G2 double hook trigger. Very nice AK compared to the junky Wasr-10's. They still have quite a good selection of AK's, but I think all they have left are Arsenals, which are pretty pricey.
I would like to see some thoughts on the Lancaster AK 47. They look nice.
thanks

Quite a bit of info out there on how Lancasters do not feed HP rounds well, if at all. Do some Google searches if you're curious. But bottom line I wouldn't want one.
Back to the OP's question.
What are you looking for? Are you looking to buy based on price alone or do you want a nice looking and good functioning gun. Do you want an underfolder, sidefolder, collapsible, or standard stock, standard barrel or krink style? Do you like Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Russian?
A Century Romanian is a good inexpensive gun but ugly.
A Century built Yugo is a good moderately priced gun, nice looking with wood stocks.
A Vector is a good looking, more expensive, accurate, really nice.
An Arsenal is probably the top of the line for standard AKs, you can get a milled one (pricey) or stamped.
Colorado Shooting Sports in Greeley, Krebs, Henderson Defense, and others will build you one.
There are 2 shops that I know of that carry a selection of AKs, Jensen's in Loveland or 5280 in Arvada. I haven't been to the stores in the Springs.

How are the ones from ARMA, assembled in Parker, CO?
I've haven't heard of ARMA until I read your thread. I googled them and the message said they host forums now, no gun sales.

Wow, glad I didn't purchase one of their AKs with their advertised "lifetime warranty".
I think ARMA in Parker is still in business: www.armarifle.com (http://www.armarifle.com)
Unless they just haven't updated their site with the bad news yet...
I have one of their Bulgarians. It's a very nice rifle, but kinda expensive for an AK. Granted it has CAI railed furniture, Tapco G2 trigger, chrome-lined barrel, recoil buffer, etc all stock; but I still think it's a bit pricey. However, if you're looking for a quality AK, can't go wrong if price is secondary.

Dan is very much still in business, just picked up 2 ak's last week. Yes his start at 995.00 but the finish and put together with only the extras[M2] that you need. Extra parts like mags and scopes or priced right. Just give me a call at 303-840-4450 and judge for yourself. His web site isn't the best also. He was at the gun show over the weekend at chambers and I-70 with about 20 for sale.

My lancaster eats everything. Ak's by there very nature, should not be picky about ammo. Any decent build will even eat the poly coated Wolf crap.

ARMAs are very nice. I run into him test firing new guns at BLGC occasionally. Concur with the above post on the specs.
