My buddy has this bike and wants to sell it for parts or whole.
If anyone here is interested shoot me an offer and I'll relay it to him. No idea on title info or prior running condition.

SCRAP was it running while on it's side, how long etc? Combine that with the visible rust, how long has it been exposed to the elements? The air box is open the the weather so you run in to other issues even before you pull the heads.

You might have him check the steering stem between the triple clamps. Bikes usually have a tag there with the year and model.

I think it's some sort of Yamaha. [Coffee]

Looks like a Yamaha FZR 600. Obviously seen better days. If it has no title it is only worth something if the engine is running. Someone will use the engine for a go kart if its running.

It's an old FZR, looks like a 93'.

Its been sitting like that for probably 6-8 months. Was in a garage prior to that

96 or 97 FZR600. Notable issues: Intake valves tulip at about 12K, expensive to fix. Stators and voltage regulators failed frequently. Needle jets oval at 10K miles, making the bikes run poorly below about 4K. Ignition CDI boxes failed frequently. Most mechanical parts interchange 89-97, although the 92-93 models had a single headlight. Brake calipers changed in 91 to address fade issues on the front.

A pristine example in good running condition is worth about 1500 on the open market.

Wow, so pretty much damn near worthless. Maybe I'll see if he wants me to part it out on eBay and split the profit with me.

somehow I see you with a big fine or transported to Weld Detention facility. The rangers always ask if they see you, "are you using paper targets or reusable steel targets" Im guessing they wouldnt like you suggestion. If it was a joke it was not a good one, because some people would actually do it. And might think you would too.

Back a few months ago myself and Islandermyk drug a motorcycle out of pawnee that someone had so graciously shot to hell and left it there.....so yes people have done it

There are a few things throwing me off on this. The clamp bars on the forks means that it is likely an older R6, but it has a split seat and that did not happen to the R6 until much later than this model year. Then there is the fact that I can see gravel through the gas tank opening... it looks like a franken bike that probably is going to need tons of work and depending on how long it has been out there might not be repairable for less than the cost of a running used bike.

Im thinking it might be the FZR400 based on the size of the rear tire. Are you sure its a 600? 96-97 looks to be correct.

That is what I was thinking at first, then there are the clamp on bars and several other things that have never been on a fzr 400 or 600. It looks like a fz that has a bunch of old R6 parts or vice versa.

I told you that 2nd post. MC wrecks are not the "gold mine" people think they are. Scrap less the plastic maybe $40 tops. Unless you take the time to dismantle it, Al, Electrical , steel, junk.

I'm sorry Jim. I will never doubt you again!

He told me I can just have it so I might spend the time pulling a bunch of parts off and selling them then scrap the rest of it. I should know later today what the tag is and title info.

Its got a stock 600 can. It could be a 400/600 but doubtful.

It is a 600. He is looking for the title. Has moved twice so it will require some digging.

If Anyone is interested in buying it shoot me an offer and I can relay it to him. He can deliver if needed. He said he would trade for cases of beer as well! He just wants it gone.
I'll put together a true for sale ad later
