My dog's left elbow have a bald spot, at first i thought she scratched herself running around, it's been there for almost a month. Vet's culture result won't come till Tues or Weds next week.
I heard a lot of dogs will get a bold spot on the outer elbow from laying down and getting up, is this from that?

Does the skin look normal? Does she lick or scratch at it a lot? Is it sensitive to her if you touch it?
If it doesn't seem to be bothering her I wouldn't sweat it too much. Sounds like you've already done the right thing by having your vet look at it.

I never saw her licking or scratching it. I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol, she seems not bothered. The only thing i'm concerned is blood disease.
So you saw a vet, but you are here asking hacks about it? Wierd.
I'll bite. My dog has some seriously calloused elbows. Perfectly normal for him and where they are on his body.
My Black Lab has had those rough patches.....she's ten.....seems to be from just laying around....It's a dogs life....Glad you got it checked it out though. I have a three year old developing the same.
Go see a Vet. Seen one already? -go back. A gun forum isn't a veterinary clinic, go see a VET! Probably the best around is the clinic at CSU in Ft Collins, my dogs go there all too often for my Visa card...

From the picture it looks like the calluses that develop on a dogs elbows if they lay on concrete a lot. I am a little surprised that te vet took a culture of it, but then I guess it could be something else.

My lab is 5 and has had this as long as I remember.
The vet took a culture because the vet can charge for taking a culture.
This looks pretty normal for doggie elbows.

My 5 yr old beagle and my parents 11 year old lab both have these. It comes from layin on hard floors or concrete.
First question, how old is your dog?
From all appearances in your pics, it is normal. They will build up a callous depending on how/where they sleep/lay. Some house dogs will never develop them because they are sleeping on the couch, etc. Yard dogs, usually develop some pretty tough elbows. Nothing to be worried about (I am not a vet, but I did stay at Holiday Inn once.)
On the other hand, if there are bald spots anywhere else on the body (flanks, throat away from collar, etc) then there could be several problems. Hopefully the culture your vet took will clue you in if there are any problems there, but again not much to worry about. A chance in diet, etc and it usually recovers.
Hope it helps. I am NOT a vet, but am a dog lover and have a wonderful one!
