Hey folks,
Looking at a step up .22 (just accurate plinking without modding a ruger to $1K) and seen some great reviews on the Tac-Sol X-Ring. Does anyone have any hands on expeirence with said product?

Thoughts?

You're probably looking at $1k, at least close to, all said and done, but I think you would definitely have a more accurate rifle over a fixed up 10/22.

All the rave reviews I've seen lately for mid-priced sorta tack drivers have been on the Taccom barrels. Biggest issue has been in-stock status this year, as everything used to be sold out, but now just the good stuff is.

Taccom barrel? Never heard of them... google time...

And while I'm at it. Is there REALLY that much of a different between Kidd and Volquartsen triggers?

I just bought that Tac Sol complete upper with the suppressor shield thingy on it. It is sweet. If you want to meet up sometime and shoot it, shoot me a pm. There is a place on Gun Broker selling the complete upper for $500, that's where I got mine. I have only shot it to sight in the leupold and its dead on at 125 yards. Haven't shot paper with it yet, I'll get to that this week. We were shooting pieces of clay pigeons to sight it in.

I did a Tac-Sol bbl on my 10/22 and did my own trigger mods. better shooter than i am. Either way be it for your 10/22 or an upper on an AR visit RFC. you'll like it.

If your talking about the pre-built 10/22 rifles that TS built with hogue stock, and sells through Sportsman warehouse for I think less then $600 your good to go. It comes with a Stock trigger though, but everything else minus stock is TS

For 1/3 that price he can buy the bbl and mod as cash flow allows. $600 for a 10/22 with stock trigger is hwy robbery.

... The x-ring receiver by itself is about $475...

there are so many ways to upgrade the stock 10/22 it's crazy. He doesn't want to spend $1K on stock mods but inquires about a $5-600 aftermarket one, with a basic trigger?? tac-sol bbl, trigger mods or volq unit keeps him under $400 . I suggest one of the many performance bbls on the market and go from there.I did a 77/22 bbl build for an ar project and that was a tack driver. There are numerous 77/22 bbls out there for cheap, that will give you better accuracy then a stock bbl. Same for the trigger group.

Or build off the TS receiver and save $100.

Unfortunately, like an AR once you get started your "project" has more money in it than you realize.

TacSol and Volquartsen both make great stuff. If you are looking for barrels, I have been using Beyer barrels to build both 10/22s and the Ultralight .22LR uppers: http://www.carbonarms.us/AR-15-Uppers-and-Parts/Carbon-Arms-AR-15-22LR-upper.html Clint makes barrels with excellent accuracy that surpass some of the "famous" makers.

A good option is a TI receiver and bolt: http://www.tacticalinc.com/elite22%E2%84%A2-precision-machinedbrreplacement-1022%C2%AE-receiver-with-matched-bolt-assembly-p-1432.html Add their barrel block, a barrel, trigger and stock and you can be at about $600 or so with a one of a kind unit you built yourself. I have found good triggers and stocks on Rimfire Central for very good prices.

Lol, I'm not disagreeing with you but the complete rifles are better deal in the long run for what they are

Ruger 10/22 - $240
X-ring Receiver - $369
TS Alum Barrel - $195
TS Extended Mag release - $35
Hogue stock - $70

or you can get all that in a complete rifle for about $600 :)

Interesting stuff. And yes, I do not want to mod every part of a Ruger .22. I was asking of opinions on the Tac-Sol stuff. I'll go check out the rimfire website.
