View Full Version : Cabelas
Did the hoarders already clear-out Cabelas? or is worth checking it out? My buddy was back in MN at Cabelas and they actually had smokeless powder, and large rifle primers!
Oh boy, where are the repost police?
Was by the north location today. Still a zoo. Lots of people. Isles for the ammo way too small. Had to file thru them as the line moves.

Sorry. I was at Cabelas picking up the very last jug of powder and small pistol primers. What'd I miss?
I was there opening day for the one in Lone Tree and it was a mad house. The line for ammo sales wound around the entire store. Shelves looked pretty cleared off to me but I haven't been back there since opening day so who knows.
Just picked up a couple boxes of 555rd Winchester 36gr .22lr for about $30 after tax at Lone Tree. They limit .22 to 1 box over 100 rds so the wife and I each bought one. There were probably 50 boxes left at 6PM.
I was at Lone Tree at about 6pm and left close to 7pm. The only .22 I could find was shorts. Couldn't find any other ammo I needed for the prices.
They had a number of firearms and didn't see anything I couldn't leave without.
I was in there on Sunday. Wandered in, bought a football for the kids and left. I'm originally from Nebraska, love Cabelas and all, but it was still a madhouse and I was a little disappointed. Will maybe try again in a few weeks. It's a nice sized store, but I was hoping for bigger, even after I knew it had been reduced.
One fun fact... when I was in the fancy gun room, the Perazzi was marked sold. If I remember right, it was marked around $40k.
I was hoping to head up to the Lone Tree store and check it out. I figure they will be pretty low on reloading supplies until the market around here levels out. Hopefully with the new bass pro in the C springs(whenever they decide to open?)and 2 new cabelas locations I might not have to order everything online, and get stuck with the hazmat fee's.

LOL!!!
I went on Monday at 1 PM...was there for 5 minutes before I couldn't take the claustrophobia with all the people there. I think people called in sick to go there. It was unbelievable. I will wait until after Christmas to try again.

All the Winchester boxes were on that huge shelf over by the shotgun shells. They were on the 2nd shelf and packed in the middle so they weren't easy to see unless you knew where they were. I just happened to see a guy with a box and asked where he found them. It's possible they could have just been put out when we got them and went quickly.
I did begin to think it might be a good idea to have a pistol in 10mm or revolver in .41 Mag. They had some ammo for those. [Coffee]

I stopped in at Lone Tree around 1800 or so. It wasn't too bad as far as people goes. . There was 5.56, a lot of it and at reasonable for the times prices. Not much in the reloading shelves. I grabbed 2 boxes of 175gr FGMM and 2 boxes of PRVI 149gr ball to feed the new LMT. I didn't look too much.

Have a retired gun loving friend who goes in every day. He noted that the Lone Tree store had 550,000 rounds of 22 in the 550 round boxes. It was gone by evening on Monday. They did have huge stocks for the opening but now its down to what comes on the trucks. Also noted that several of Tanner table people and a few gun store folks are seen with carts at the store. Two of the Tanner guys were noted to be rotating going in and out to get by the box limit. Now my friend does keep me and others well stocked, but if I did not have him I would be screwed on getting ammo as of late. Lot of Tanner and gun store guys stalking the Walmarts and Cabellas now.

FYI heard a worker at cabelas say they are not aloud to tell people what's on the trucks or supposed to be arriving until it comes onto the floor... So even if the truck is being unloaded they are not aloud to tell people...
also no powder or 22lr today...ok that's a lie they got in 3 boxes... Yes 3 boxes of some sort of value pack 22lr but was gone ASAP... Which I didn't care because I wasn't there for that but just giving you guys a heads up... Also for primers it was large rifle 4 boxes, small pistol.... A lot, and small rifle quite a few.... Lots of ammo... Besides 22
today was my first time in... Didn't even buy anything.... Pretty sure that's my first time in a cabelas not buying anything... Feels strange

So cabellas is now just like Walmart for ammo. Explain to me again why cabellas is so special. Lol.

Well, unlike Wal-Mart or Bass Pro, you can order ammo online at Cabela's and have it shipped to the store and avoid hazmat and shipping fees. Plus, at least at the Thornton store, they have a really cool mountain lion leaping off of the shelf and over your head :D

Sweet !!!! Mountain lions.
Hearing the puma repeatedly got old quick in my first and only Cabela's visit. I wonder if the guys working the handgun counter learn to ignore it.

Made a quick trip up to the Lone Tree Cabelas this morning. They had a "doorbuster sale" from 0800-1200 (tel:0800-1200). I picked up a pair of Rocky 800gram thinsulate Gor-Tex hunting boots for myself & a pair for my son (the ones I've been wearing are 15 years old), a 4pk of wool socks, a rifle sling with swivels, ultrasonic cleaner & big bottle of solution, and a pair of everyday hiking boots - all for $360. All of it would normally have cost about $675. Been needing, but putting off, everything but the ultrasonic cleaner & solution but I've been wanting those for a long time. All-in-all, I think I did okay.
I still need to get my son a good hunting coat, gloves and a pack, but otherwise he's almost completely geared up to finally join me elk hunting this rifle season.

We were up there around 11ish today. Not many primers left, no powder, and only some brass. Still tons of 223 ammo for $10 and up a box. Crowded but not insane. Didn't take too long to cash out. Went to Bass Pro afterwards, which reminded me of little mexico. No crowd at all, even in the gun dept. They had primers(200 piece limit) and some powder. Re7, Unique, Green Dot, 2400, longshot, wst, and hs-6 when we stoppd in. Dealt with the insanity trying to get home.
I should add, looking at their used gun racks, they are in need of a serious reality check. Dinged up stocks with a cheapo tasco scope does not constitute an $800 gun. $100 under street price for a new gun, and the thing looks worse than something at a pawn shop, I don't think so. Can find better deals at gun shows.

Went up to the Thornton one yesterday. Second that on the used gun racks. There are better things to drop $800 on than a dinged, dark-and-oily stocked 1903A3 with visible pitting.
Also, so many fudds right now. There was more flagging going on than at a Raiders game.
It will probably be a loooooooong time before Sportsmans or Cabelas sees me walking through their front doors. Still too many people freaking out, driving prices through the roof, buying up more than their fair share of reloading components, etc....[panic]

Oh don't forget those gawd awful pop gun things. It sounded like a machine gun shoot, there were a couple of kids cracked out and jacked up on star bucks and mountain dew in there yesterday.

What is this "their fair share" you speak of?
It's a free market. If you're able to buy what you want at the going price...what's wrong with that? Life isn't fair.

Fair is what you can afford. I'm more concerned with who's trying to decide what's fair...
