View Full Version : Feb 14th match?
How is the Feb 14th match looking? It can't be too windy or cold to run a match if there is no snow right?
This will be my first match and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

As of right now, the match is a go. Hope to see you there.
Now it is snowing! Should I just read the FAQ for the 5th or 6th time and then show up with 200 rounds, a holster, a mag holder, and my gun?
ETA: And a jacket?

Shorts and a rifle for the side match. :)
No rifle for me. Not yet anyway.
Is there a minimum caliber or gauge for rifle and shotgun matches?

Not very often, but bring one out.
Weather is not looking super good. I'll keep you updated on the match.
Thanks. This will be my first time so I would need the safety class.
*********NOTE**************
If something happens and I can't make it because it interferes with my Valentine's Day plans, is it a huge deal? Also, what time should I expect to be done? I need to be back in town by 12:00 noon at the latest. Is this possible?

Things usually wrap up around 1:00-2:00. Depends on how many shooters there are, how many people help out and the weather.

Hmmm, if that is the case, then unfortunately I can not make this one. I was REALLY excited to go. I imagine that everyone takes turns doing each stage right? So it's not like some people are done right away while others wait all day?
I signed us up for a rock climbing class at 1:00pm in Westminster. If anyone thinks I can swing both, please let me know. If not, I will be there next time. :)
Thanks for all the guidance guys.

Like Hoser said, lots of variables. Number of people, number of new shooters (usually take longer), weather, how complex the stages are... If it is a qualifier, count on 3-4 for a finish time.
4 bays, 4 courses of fire. The entire showing is split into 4 groups. 1 is the new shooters, the other 3 is everyone else (unless there is an over abundance of new shooters - 15 or more then there will be 2 mixed groups of new shooters and regulars) The match starts on or about 9:30 and each group starts in one of the four bays, and moves on to the next as they finish.
I'd say no, you will not make both, you can participate and leave early if you need to, you will just get a DNF (Did Not Finish) for your score. You are by no means obligated to stay for the entire match. You just need to let the Safety Officer running your group know you need to leave.
Weather Warning: Very low temperatures are forecast for the Clear Creek match on February 14th. The Match Director’s decision to cancel the match or hold an abbreviated match will appear here and on the FRIDPA website.
So it all worked out. Great! Thanks for the heads up, I really appreciate it. I might go work out at Red Rocks instead.
