Adams county took 83 days to issue mine. I'm an EMT so my fingerprints are already on file with CBI, but it still took that long.

94 something days for me to get my first one from Boulder. Had to call them and speak to a superior officer which was easy as the regular girl was gone. He said it had been approved some 25-30 days prior so he didn't understand why I wouldn't have gotten it yet, and said he would get back to me after looking around. He found it sitting on her desk. She just was sitting on it, then decided to go on vacation without sending it.

I think 80 some days for my renewal. Guess that ticket for speeding at 11mph over on a country road three years ago made it questionable if I was still a law abiding citizen.

I don't think that the process actually takes that long. If there is a backlog, sure - but then there is an estimation of time as in El Paso County. Nothing takes "90 days" to the day to approve. Nothing. What is going on is that in some counties an anti gun person has either requested or been placed in the position of approving them, or been directed to hold by an anti gun sheriff. So they are approved, and then sit in the office of said person until they have shown their maximum legal disapproval and send it off.

When I first got mine in Douglas County, they called on the 89th or 90th day to say it was ready. When I renewed last year, it only took about 2 - 3 weeks.

I think they're sitting on them.

they didn't do anything with mine until a week out from it's expiration and then they didn't call me until the 2nd day after it expired.

I will say that from the time I got the call, I was there and out (and back at work) with my new one in 20min.

Took them two days to call me back and can't get me in till the 5th of May??? Hope they knock it off my 90 day wait... sure.

I was driving when she called and she was saying something about proving residency in Denver, will my car registration work for that? Pay the mortgage electronically, and I can't remember the third proof?

I have my appointment on the 4th of May and that was scheduled early part of last month.

The other form of proof is Property Taxes.

I had my appointment yesterday in Denver. Called ahead of time, and was told to bring something that had recently been mailed to me like a power bill or bank statement.
Asked about the wait time, she said after 90 days they send you a notice, you bring that in with your ID and receive your CCW.

FromMyColdDeadHand
05-10-2009, 23:23
Same for me, I brought in a mailed pay check, a car registration, and a the frickin' notification that my property taxes are going up. I think she coped the property tax thing. Nice lady, the lighting in the place is awful. Finger printing was less messy and easier to clean than I thought.

(Use some moistureizer on your hands before you go, it helps to make the prints better? She had me use some moisturizer when after the first set. Who knew, a free manicure?)

So, after 90 days, they mail something to you. It will be cooler weather before I get back down there.

I just had my renewal appointment today in Denver County. My permit expires 8/2/09, lets see if I get my renewal before that. There were a few new questions this time around though. First, I had to show a few more items for proof of residence (I brought 5 different things and they took their pick). Secondly, they asked if the CCW course that I took had live fire or not. I have heard that there has been some issues with this around the state.
Only took 2 weeks from the time I called for the appointment til the date they gave me. Not too bad.

Update: Received my letter yesterday 7/10/2009 to go pick up my renewal. So, the wait time was not too bad for my renewal 5/28/2009 to 7/10/2009 Denver County.

I went down to Castle Rock early last year to submit my renewal, at least 60 days before my old permit expired.

The deputy that took my prints and my renewal application/check was nice and said that the sheriff would get around to signing my CCW renewal when he had time.

When I got back to my office I had a voicemail from that same deputy informing me that my new permit was signed, laminated and ready to pick up.

So, Douglas county has same-day turnaround on renewals....at least in my experience.

No time table for Weld, however I think the CCW rush is over, still higher volume apps but the actual rush seems to be over. Myself and several others i've talked to, received ours in less than 2 months as opposed to the full 90 days it was taking for awhile there.

Once you become a Colorado resident, your GA. license is not honored in CO. If you are just "visiting" then CO honors your GA. license.

It's amazing how the time for issuance of the permit varies so greatly from county to county.

On the other hand, CO seems pretty good when compared to UT. I'm a UT BCI Instructor and it took 5 months to get my permit. That seems to be about the average wait. When they sent the permit to me, it included a letter that said the permit was issued conditional upon a favorable FBI background/fingerprint check. So that wasn't even completed yet!

I haven't heard anything since so I guess everything's OK.
