What The Hell’s The Problem With Troy Industries? (Stolen From TTAG) (http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/08/daniel-zimmerman/what-the-hells-the-problem-with-troy-industries/)
UPDATE:GUNSSAVESLIFE.com has an even better article (http://www.gunssavelife.com/?p=8860), with more content.
People you got to read the whole thing (links above) and specially for those younger members that do not remember wholey 1992 and Ruby Ridge, (research it)
After reading this articles above got me all fired up. WTF are they doing???
Ruby Ridge was perfect example of Gov on a power trip and abuse and after all of this time still remember how messed up it was; however, TROY industries not doing a little checking before hiring people.
I love TROY stuff but this will cost them in the PR area badly if they dont fix it.

Interesting comment at the bottom of the page:
The government sure in the hell doesn’t mind ruining a citizen’s life for a decision made in a tactical/combat situation.
Why should we not hold the government employees to the same standard.
I get tired of this “Monday Morning Quarterbacking” whine by government thugs. They took the action, they should damn well face the consequences for it.
The “under orders” whine doesn’t hold water either. We hanged a whole lot of Germans and Japanese for “following orders”.

Good to know, thanks for the post!
I'll stick with Larue and noveske.

Troy released a statement advising that they were looking at partnering with Jody, however, after customer and public reaction they have ended all connections with him and he is no longer related to Troy in any way. He was to be a part of their training division IIRC.

Good! People need to start learning that decisions they make can and will affect them in the future. Life should not be game of jumping to the popular-at-the-moment side for short periods of time.

There's a pretty good thread about this on m4carbine.net...
I certainly will do my best to not support Troy. Indirectly (such as the troy sites marketed by other companies), it might be helpful to understand what companies have items sourced by Troy, so that we can 'vote with our wallets' as it were.
Troy makes the Noveske sights.
They make larue ones too...all it is is laser engraving with each company's logo. Guess I won't buy any of those
Can't buy Troy, can't buy ARMS. Are there any other metal folding BUIS makers that aren't crap?

+1 on MI.
Put a MI sight on SR556E. Cheaper too.
Wasn't this an issue with another company or gun magazine or something just 4-5 years ago with Lon?

I share the opinion here expressed of Lon Horuchi's friends. However, I don't visit TTAG ever.

The comment section is blowing up. I was going to order a charlie rail from them to. Looks like I'll be buying a different company's product.
This is very disappointing and I am now considering selling my Troy stuff on my AR now. I will not spend another dollar of Troy items. Obviously they have forgotten or have become self righteous.
Well here it goes FUCK YOU Troy industries- might as well stop selling to civilians and stick with black booted government thugs.

Many people might laugh and I'll say this with the disclaimer that I've never used them on a gun meant for serious business... But I've had nothing but good luck with the relatively inexpensive ProMag sights (metal PM137 model, not the plastic version) that I've used on recreational or basic training rifles. For most people I think they'll work just fine. For serious duty use or heavy extended use...not sure.
Oh...I don't know who actually makes them. I'm assuming ProMag but don't know.
If you're just looking for a sight to sit behind an optic, these might work.
Still think the public backlash over this will continue and eventually cause TROY to change their decision. I know LEOs who believe this was a overreaching horrible event and the officers involved were guilty of overstepping no matter "under orders."
I guess maybe I am not seeing it. Mr Monroe is a changed man, trying to use his lesson of that tragic event to help change the future, by teaching tactics to others?
The response TROY put up on facebook states hold their position and defend Mr Monroe, but the person who should be defending his past and present should be Mr. Monroe, not TROY.
I like their rails but there are newer nice rails out there. I like TROYs sights, the biggest thing I will miss.
Oh Well.................
Wait. What's wrong with ARMS? What did they do?

All I could find is that they sued LaRue over patent issues with their lever back in 2009.

Maybe there's something more.
I like my A.R.M.S. mounts - and LaRue.
There is something more:
From: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4697265-A.R.M.S.-Anti-gun-supporter-boycott-list
Add ARMS to the boycott list if you prefer to spend your money with those who want to protect your rights to own firearms. The Swans (Dick and Sharon, CEO and VP of ARMS) each wrote a check for $500.00 to Martha Coakley (D), currently AG of MA, and running for the Senate seat left behind by the murderer Teddy Kennedy.
ARMS is junk.

Wait. What's wrong with ARMS? What did they do?
Long history of shitty business practices in addition to making sub-par mounts. The below is from Snipers Hide circa 2009.
As a retailer we have very little power. We are at the mercy of our suppliers and the manufacturers of the products we sell. We have been treated very poorly by A.R.M.S. Inc., and the only thing we can do about it is make it public and stop carrying their products.
A.R.M.S. Inc. is extremely aggressive when it comes to dealing with their competition, and they readily take out their disputes with their competition on us, a very low level vendor.
We have had two run-ins with A.R.M.S. Inc. to back up our claim, we’ll start with the most recent.
INCIDENT 1: THE MOST RECENT ABUSE OF POWER
According to A.R.M.S. Inc, whom I spoke with via phone on September 11, 2009 at 11:59 am, they are in a dispute with Magpul over the design of the MAGPUL MBUS FLIP-UP REAR SIGHT. They feel Magpul made the site too similar to their own.
Fair enough, A.R.M.S. Inc. has a right to challenge Magpul directly on this. We have no problem with that. They can take Magpul to court and see who wins.
However, they are not just taking their fight to Magpul, according the lady I spoke with at A.R.M.S Inc., they are taking it out on individual resellers such as myself for selling the Magpul MBUS Sights.
One way they are doing this is by reporting any listing of Magpul BUIS Sights to EBAY as a copyright violation, not only getting the listings cancelled but jeopardizing the low level retailers account status. We have 8 listings cancelled for this reason and our compliance rating lowered from GOOD to VERY LOW, thus jeopardizing our account and threatening our ability to make a living.
INCIDENT 2: OUR FIRST RUN WITH A.R.M.S.
In an effort to get a leg up on their competition A.R.M.S. has trademarked generic terms used to describe their products. One such term is “Throw Lever”.
Now, we did our research, and from what we could tell this is a pretty generic engineering term. So it is only logical for someone to use this term to describe a ring or mount with such a device on it. Anyone who does so will be reported for trademark violation to eBay.
Let’s be clear. While we strongly disagree with putting a trademark on generic terms, that is not our complaint. Our complaint is that they did not give us the opportunity to resolve the problem without jeopardizing our eBay account status. A simple email explaining their complaint without listing would have resulted in our immediate compliance.
CONCLUSION
A.R.M.S. Inc. deliberately tried to get our eBay account status lowered and possibly suspended because we are selling their competition's products. We consider this an unfair strong arm tactic and feel the need to let people know about it. We will NEVER buy or offer for sale another A.R.M.S. Inc. product.
This is what happens when you put the almighty dollar and profits before ethics.
