Since John Noveske's untimely death I have wanted to build my own Noveske Rifle. Keeping the basics the same (upper, lower, barrel) I added my own flavor in and had the guys at Shadow Ops Weaponry cerakote some goodies for me. My 14.5" Noveske LW SS barrel is on its way back from Marvin Pitts right now, having been dimpled and coated Armor Black. I can't wait to get this thing together.

Tactical Gray which is a little lighter. Thanks!

Noveske's "lightweight" barrels are basically everyone else's mediums. Marvin's normal turnaround is about 3 weeks but because I'm having the barrel cerakoted black it's taken another week. I'm going nuts waiting! I paid about $275 all in, full dimpling and cerakote.

Huge thanks to Bert (BP Tactical) for getting this done in one night. I think he saw the desperation in my eyes when I dropped it off.
Also big thanks to Todd and Dustin at Shadow Ops, those guys are a class act and their operation is completely top notch.

I haven't weighed it yet but I can tell you that the dimpling takes a TON of weight off the front end which is exactly what I wanted. The gun balances so well I am shocked. It feels like it weighs slightly LESS than my SR-15 which is already a very light rifle.

Very nicely done, I had a preview of this on M4C. I am Jack's Seething Jealousy...

Thread derailment - regarding the two different grips, I'm personally returning to the MOE grips. While slightly easier on the wrist, the more vertical pistol grip crushes my social finger knuckle which I find much more painful than any "unnatural" wrist angle.

I have to say I'm going to do the same. After fondling the MOE+ on the Noveske constantly I have to say its my favorite grip of all time. I'm taking the Gunfighter off the KAC because I actually find it too slippery.

the dimpling takes a TON of weight off
Do you think it doesn't affect bore / accuracy? I remember a conversation with Bert when he said after bore rifling is done he wouldn't recommend any barrel exterior machining like fluting and dimpling.

Marvin says all dimpled barrels are going to have a different POI than they did previous to being worked on, however I don't think KAC would use this technique so prevalently on their precision rifles unless it had a minimal effect on ultimate accuracy. A Noveske SS barrel is going to be more accurate than me regardless, so worst case this just evened the field a little.
