Watched Lone Wolf Mc Quade (again), LEO side arms being revolvers seems out-of-place compared to today's LEOs. But in 1983 revolvers were still being used by most LEOs. I don't know of any LEOs that still use them as Service Side Arms.

Anyone know of any agency still using revolvers today?

Saw a lightrail police officer (can't remember what they are called, but not regular police) wearing a revolver a while back.

I have two LE that are customers at the shop and we talk guns when time permits and both carry S&W J-Frames as back ups. One has a M&P as main carry and the other wears a Glock, both in .40.

I think several departments allow officers to keep using revolvers if they were issued to them. Certain EPSO guys can apply to use a 38 or 357 revolver if they work undercover, but IDK if they have ever been approved.

Three or four years ago I recall an older Denver PD officer in uniform out at the airport with a wheel gun. I asked her about it and she said that it was permitted but only for the old timers who had been carrying one for years.

My first issued in uniform was a Model 15 4" and when I went into plain clothes switched to a Model 19 2.5" I was not allowed to purchase either gun when we transitioned to semi-autos. I missed my wheel guns so much that I eventually purchased one of each. Still fun to shoot and without a doubt I shoot them better than my semi-autos. The accuracy difference is not so much to make up for the increased capacity and faster reloads, so I don't think I will ever carry my wheel guns again.

It would not surprise me to learn of revolvers still being used in Alaska.

CADOC. They are finally transferring over to semi's. Unfortunately it's in 40:( Fuk they're using mini's over the ar platform. Thats progress for you.
Some feds were able to carry what they wanted a BUG's, my brothers was a .357 640.

A few years back, before Sportsmans closed in Aurora I got to talking with an Aurora officer who was still carrying a 4" Python. Same rule on old timers.

The sheriff's deputy out in Kim was still carrying one last time I saw him. He is the only one I can think of around here that still carries one.

I have model 57 and 58 (.41 mags) both in Nickle. great shooting guns. A 58 would be a great duty gun for someone that can carry the weight.

What's ironic is that in El Paso County, private armed security guards are ONLY allowed to pack a .38 or .357mag revolver (if that's no longer the case then the law changed recently).

I sold a 4" nickle 29-2 about a year ago ... its probably in the top 5 guns I regret selling the most (especially since I sold it and my .357mag J Frame to buy a Jeep and I really haven't warmed up to the Jeep yet).

I've seen plenty of private security here that carry semi-autos.

I just heard that the ordnance may have been changed after the New Life shooting.

My wife has a cousin in NY that's an undercover detective in a Sheriff's dept. (she may be retired now), and she told me she carries a .41 magnum, which would obviously be a revolver. No idea what make/model.

I heard the same thing from a Denver PD officer working at a bank I was working at a year or so ago. She said there were only about 6 of them authorized to carry revolvers.

Since all the other guns were HK they wanted to make sure at least ONE person on the team had a reliable weapon

Best comment ever lol
