The weather today was HOT, but so was the action! Took the first two with my Remy 700 in .223, the next four fell victim to my .308 boomstick!

If I ever have a rodent problem at my place I know who I'm going to call.
That looks like fun! I want to go varmint hunting sometime

Yeah, a Nosler Ballistic Silver Tip 150 grain .308 tends to do that at 165 yards!
Impressive explosion!

Here's one I hit with a 40 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip .223 at a little over 200 yards. Despite the explosion which severed his large intestine, (seen on the right side of the hole), the little bastard managed to crawl back into the ground. Guess he's camera shy...

How did you find enough open land to kill those bugers? My son is always dying to go but were ever we look; they are always in a safe zone! Nice kills............
I have 40 acres in Hudson we shoot on, plus my neighbors 1,500 acres down the road.
We had a blast yesterday!

Last time I went out I got right at 30 of them. I'm in a small area with great concealment and using subsonics in my .22 with a can it's pretty much silent, they never hear it coming. It also limits me to about 100-125 yards at most, and they don't explode like they do with the .223 or .308.

That's actually half the fun! After any particularly explosive shot, we all walk down to it to see the ballistic effect of the different rounds!

Sniping them with the .22 is awesome as well, it's funny watching them look around at what the hell that was when you hit the dirt right next to them.
I have a camera mount for my spotting scope, I'm gonna have to set that up and do some video.

But they will do cool acrobatics. My favorite is a low solid front hit that induces the tail over tea kettle face plant.

Or you can shoot them with a .223 with a 50gr VMAX and all they do is bleed out and crawl back in their hole using just their front legs...
Bastard.......
Solid hit. Blood all over the hole. Watched him crawl back in the hole bloody all over.....

I have seen that happen so many times. Literally, when 00Tec and I said that we have seen them crawl back in, then 10 minutes later we watched their buddy push them back out of the hole dead, we were not kidding! lol
Eneranch, I have not had another "large" PDOG shoot recently. I had to kick the woman out and there was some things going on there that prohibited it. I will be setting one up sometime next month and I will send out the usual invites!

That's another reason why I like the .308 for varmints. Game over no matter where you hit em!

guess i may have to bring a couple folks to my secret spots. i shoot alone behind my dads because lately it requires close attention and a can, but a couple others are within 45 minutes and nicely populated.

Just added a custom Witt Machine Break. Supposed to be able to stay on target throughout the recoil of a .308. If that's the case, should be even less varmints left in Hudson come Sunday!

Can we change Randy's user title to "Gear Whore"?

I know I have fun having people come out. I have got to know a few good folks to boot, which has been great!
