I am building a stack of it. Is it worth it to take it or should I just call someone?
Probably about 500 lbs. Maybe a bit less.

I have a client who owns Rocky Mountain Recycling. Ill ask him if they take it and whats its worth.
What type of material?
Steel probably isn't worth your time. Copper/brass/aluminum could be worth hauling to a scrapyard. If it's stuff that someone could use for making things, you may be able to give it away or sell it for a little. If it's just junk, depending on where it is, you could probably put it outside with a sign on it saying FREE and it would disappear.
Is this at your shop or home? There's scavengers roaming the entire Metro area doing just that, scavenging every bit of metal to sell for scrap. At the low end of the food chain that's income for somebody. It's amazing what people will haul off from curbs and alleys.

Primarily brake rotors, some shocks water pumps and such as well. Nothing fancy.
You have about $25 worth, it must feel like you just won the lottery [Coffee]. http://66.166.133.189/fc/price.asp
ETA: Aluminum is worth quite a bit more at $.50/lb, might be worth it if you have a lot.

Your all smoking crack. It's well worth taking to a good scrap yard. Kid behind me drops off 1-2 T of scrap and does very well every month. Another guy down the block does just as well
You don't want to deal with it there are at least 3-4 folks on CL in the metro area who would be there yesterday if you call them.
I'm just thinking about the value of the scrap vs. his labor value lost in time away from the shop/business to go to the scrapyard. IIRC, his shop is in Centennial, yes? I don't know of any scrapyards nearby, and a trip to a scrapyard has never been a quick thing for me, always friggin' lines and waiting. Time away from the shop and the phone could cost more than the junk is worth.
But there I go, tryin' to think again.....

Oxford reclyxling. Santa Fe and Oxford ish
I have guys drive by my rolloffs every day and take whatever scraps of metal they can find. Makes more room for me. ++
Its definitely worth it. I take bags of cans in to recycle and put the money in my sons college fund.
So that half full 5gal bucket I have of steel casings is worth how much? Didn't seem right to toss them, so I just started filling a bucket up when I'm sorting through range brass pickups. Can I afford a lunch at taco bell yet? ;)

even out here in the stix they're giving $170/Ton for scrap steel... If you've got the room to let it pile up to that much, it's worth it...
Last time I brought a load, it was around $200 in my pocket

I have a couple hundred pounds you can add to your haul if you want it. It's the front clip of a bread truck frame.

i had a washing machine I needed to get rid of, so I hauled it down to the scrap yard in Pueblo and got $14.00. I thought that was pretty good price for an old washing machine.

Damn, I was gonna tell tmleadr03, that if he still had his scrap pile when we do the annual family dump/recycle run this fall, we would take it to recycle and split proceeds.
Then more scrap starts to pop up. Looks like need to start scrap wanted/haul away your scrap iron thread.
