Hi, I just joined and was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could pick up a front sight base for my xm 15. It is the optic ready model and didn't come with the front sight base. I have the flat top which I like but I would like to have the option of having open sights as well as optics. Can I do this my self or should I have a gunsmith do it and if I should have a gunsmith do it can some one recomend one to me. Can anyone help me?
Is it milled? Or does it have a weaver base on it?

Thanks for the reply Marlin, here's a picture....
You can do it yourself with a hammer and punch set and lots of patience...
Yep milled, Like Ridge said.. It's a mild pain in the tail feathers.. But,, not that hard..Just remove the pin holding the gas tube.. Then the two blind pins holding the FSB itself slide it off.. put the new one on, line it up and put the pins in... You will need to remove the FS/muzzle break

Hi Ridge, Do you know where I can get a base, any where around here in Colorado... I would like to get a standard base like the military have.
Well there is Alan and Bowers Tactical on the board here.. You could check with them.. Down in the "Industry Partners" section..
Other than that, Bushmaster, or Rock River Arms..

I was thinking about buying a flip up sight base with my refund check...if you want to hang on a few weeks you can have mine when I'm done with it...
