So ... unpleasant discovery this week is that something's wrong with the defrost system. Freezer works just fine but has frost accumulating at the back. Refrigerator doesn't do jack (hence the unpleasant discovery when I finally opened the door for something). After pulling everything out and hitting it with cleaner/disinfectant/etc., my Internet research leads me to it being:
the defrost heater assembly has burned out
or the defrost thermostat has failed
or defrost control has failed
or evaporator fan motor failed
or the air damper control is broken
While looking at these doesn't appear beyond my reach technically, I really don't have time to go through a week long process of testing and swapping parts. I'd rather just hire someone to do it right -- and would prefer to hire fellow shooters.
so .... any fridge repair guys here or that that you might recommend? For what it's worth, it's a Maytag MFD2560HEW, about 8.5 years old but I've had fridges last 20 years so would rather repair than buy new.
