So today I went into Gander Mountain (because Cabelas is just way too packed still) and I noticed they had about 10 AR's on the shelf. They were all different brands. Ruger, Sig, Smith and Wesson, Bushmaster, and a couple others. Only one had a flash hider. All of the other ones had no flash hider, such as the rifles that were sold during the 1994 ban. I asked about the flash hider situation to the guy behind the counter and he literally had no answer. Why am I seeing more of these rifles with no flash hider? My theory was that they are the "California Safe" ones and Gander was just ordering those for Colorado stores. Anyone know about this?

CA compliant with out bullet button. They ship in like that for the 10 rd mag. Unfortunately CO is on a lot of vendor's no longer sell , list. The ban comp guns come with 10 rd mags, easier than pulling the 30 and swap for 10.
No, Cabelas is not too packed. Went there today.
Way too many stupid questions being asked. People, do your homework!
My guess is that the safer they look the better they sell. At least in the corporate eyes.

Sorry to offend you with my stupid question. Why even have a forum? Someone is bound to ask a question that someone else finds stupid!
Wouldn't asking questions be apart of homework and the gaining of knowledge?

There's a gent in the springs with some distributors that orders ARs without the standard capacity mag. Lemme know if you want details. He also does private party for pretty cheap.

I think he meant that while the Cabelas he went to was not that packed, many of the people there were asking stupid questions about guns.

Thanks for the info. I was personally looking for information on why Gander had numerous ARs without flash hiders and if this was going to be common practice for them

That's how I took it. But it could go both ways.

Well if that's the case then I feel like a dick. However, I thought he was saying my question was stupid
Lemme try again.
Way too many stupid questions being asked at the gun counter.
Sorry for the FUBAR.
Easy to see it that way. I just happened to read his other thread about Cabelas where he mentions less than desirable clients being present. I did a little inferring to come to my conclusion. I could be wrong.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was like, hey man, cut me some slack here. But Irving was quick to point out my dick-ness
Too many threads going on. I had to re-read my post and it did look doofy.

Shameful shit right there. I have a Colt AR that was sold here during the ban. No threaded barrel, 10 round mag and no bayonet lug. Shoots great though.

Cabela's (south) had about a dozen last Friday of all types and styles. They had decent prices for ammo, a good selection of it and a 10 box limit. The parking lot looks more crowded than the interior of the store. Go check it out Kev.

Not surprised. I set foot into Gouger Mountain one time a few years ago and haven't been back. I try to do most of my business locally at a shop that has friendly customer service, fair prices and are good at informing their customers when things are coming back on the shelves.

Yup, we're a blue gun state now. The manufacturers aren't going to tailor guns for each and every state, for best profitability they'll OR all the restrictions together and produce a blue gun that will work in all states. No flash hider, bullet button, eunuch magazine and that's what we're going to get from here on out unless things change.

Remember now, nobody could keep AR's on the shelves until after 1 July. It didn't matter the config as long as it was an AR and had a standard mag with it. I know for a fact many stores were bringing in any AR they could get their hands on. Could very well be these rifles came in just before or just after 1 July and now are lounging around after 1224 took effect.

We moved to Dallas last year from Aurora after I retired. So far there aren't many things I like here except the attitude towards guns. Hopefully in future elections things can get turned around in Colorado. Unfortunately, Colorado is getting bunched in with CA, NY, NJ, MA, etc, etc and that is absurd. I think if one opened a store right next door to the fire works stands on I25 at the CO-WY border, one would make a killing with magazines, rifles, etc. :)
BTW, BGC's down here take about 3-4 minutes to get processed. None required if you have a TX CHL.
