I would assume this is NYC way of justifying stop and frisk. It is also some good info for the legal new CCW person.

You wanna know how to spot me carrying? I just grab my junk and say "check yourself fool" to everyone I make contact with.

This was in the course of fire at last ECOIDPA match. We laughed our asses off watching everyone do that.

Sent from my electronic ball and chain.

So you're saying I can figure out who has a gun by watching and paying attention? I wonder what else I could learn by paying attention? Maybe that NYC's gun laws don't work? Or maybe that whoever wrote this is an idiot...
That is funny though

All good and true tips for gang bangers who don't use holsters and for new concealed carriers... but that's about it... essentially, how to spot an untrained carrier is all. *shrug*

Asymmetrical gait... LOL!!!! I don't know that I have seen a gang-banger type without a "strut" to him... This is profiling...![obama]

A little bit biased article. I cannot stand the left's portrayal of gun owners.

I remember once I had a Keltec P32 in a ankle holster... It slipped down a bit, and I'm pretty sure the movements I made to get to the nearest bush was not just an "asymmetrical gait", but developed through a grant from the Ministry of Silly Walks.

Why didn't you just move to the edge of the sidewalk, take a knee, and act as if you're tying your shoe? Most folks don't pay a damn bit of attention as long as you're acting normally...

This describes every person under 30 with a cell phone and a Facebook account now a days. [Stick]

It is a left-wing conspiracy for sure; just like her other illustrated graphics... http://www.edwardtufte.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=0002w4

It was a pretty well traveled area, would have been difficult to pass adjusting a handgun in a holster as just tying a shoe. It was pretty easy to duck out of the line of sight, so I figured that beat the possibility of a MWAG call. I no longer use the ankle holster, the IWB options these days are more convenient and much faster.

Once, when I was younger, I was off duty in Central Park (NYC) and I had a SIG P230 stuffed in my waist band at the small of my back. As we were walking through the very crowded south end of the park on a lovely Saturday afternoon, I felt the pistol slide down my right leg and hit the asphalt. To me it sounded like a bolt of lightning and I just imagined that someone there must have seen this evil little gun drop out of my pant leg. I grabbed it as quickly as I could and slid it into my pocket. I looked around and realized that if anyone had seen me, they didn't react, and most of the people seemed far too preoccupied with whatever they were doing to notice the gun on the ground.

I've never worn a gun without a holster since then.

I've learned many times that most people wouldn't notice a total solar eclipse if everyone around them stopped and pointed right up to the sun.

People see what they expect to see. The people who notice people with concealed weapons are often people who are concealing a weapon themselves.

If the weapon isn't in someone's hand, it isn't likely to hurt anyone (please don't post a link to the guy who shoots with his feet, I've seen it).

Everyone's attention span is different. Be as observant as you can be, for as long as you can be observant. Most of what you see will make you laugh more often than give you a reason to be afraid.

Be safe.

"We're seeing people that are so disconnected to their surroundings. This is not unique. People are being robbed, people are being hurt, people are being run over by cars because they're so disconnected because of these phones."

Go figure
