View Full Version : SEI Lawsuit
I don't know if anyone has seen this or not. I don't even know quite what to think about it. Personally I think it looks bad for SEI.

There will always be individuals who post up negative oppinions about a product or company. To try and sue each one...even if SEI were right they still come off looking bad.
Looks like this may be why they are taking him to court:

I know a lawsuit is the best way to attract new customers.....
I've followed this quite a bit.
Lets break it down.
-SEI has a pre order for receivers through a FFL company.
-A bunch of people pony up $800 per receiver and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait.
-People start to get worried so they start asking questions of SEI.
-SEI doesn't respond and ignores them mostly except a few responses where they basically told everyone to F-off.
-People are appalled at SEI's attitude and start to speculate on what the problem with production is.
-Someone says, " I heard from a reliable source that they are having heat treatment issues"
-SEI freaks out and threatens lawsuit, calls the person screaming at them.
-SEI send a legal request to retract statement, apologize on the forum, and a bunch of other stuff.
-The guy refuses.
-SEI blows their foot off with an "internet shotgun" and sues the guy for "disparaging comments"
I for one will NOT be buying any more SEI parts. I've talked to Ron Smith on the phone before and he's as every bit of arrogant on the phone as his reputation has suggested.
...which encourages avoidance of them and their products entirely. I guess they're trying to recover some coin on the way out of business.

You would be right somewhat but another part of the story is SEI and the FFL started cancelling orders of people with out notice for saying bad things about SEI's wait time.
The person that is getting sued had 5 receivers payed up front.
Numerous other people had thousands of $$$ tied up on the receivers for MONTHS to all of a sudden have their orders cancelled with no reason given.
Not to mention SEI's attitude and arrogance on the forum regarding the receivers.
In a court of law its going to be VERY hard to differentiate what has caused loss of business between SEI's actions and the defendent's actions.

I am guessing that the company has serious underlying problems, but chooses to blame it on others opinions on public forums. Instead they should work on fixing the delayed order problems. Filing this lawsuit really effed up their reputation. The legal document filed seems really amateurish...but this only my personal opinion!
It is really not a good idea to mess with you customer base in the gun world. We gossip almost as much as teenage girls and hold to our convictions.
This company is as stupid as Rguns.

That is a no shitter right there! Also, another +1 for Rguns being garbage.

Reminds me of a company out of Ohio many of our members have attempted to do business with. They came here denying claims our members made (many times with evidence of the companies negative actions), then threatened us all with an amatuer attorney demanding withdrawl of all negative comments.
Certainly no way to run any bisiness and a death stroke for a firearms related company.

No kidding. I got called a "gun snob" for trash talking Hi-Point. I laughed and said, "If choosing not to carry a garbage, pot-metal, boat anchor of a gun as a personal defense gun makes me a gun snob, then so be it." Even Chris Costa trashes Hi-Point in one of his videos. It's rather awesome.
