View Full Version : Gunsmith who does Pin/Weld on a 14.5" barrel in Northern CO?
I'm currently considering a light build with a lightweight hammer-forged barrel (either DD or BCM), 14.5" with a pinned/welded Surefire SOCOM brake. Trouble is I can't find anyone who does it out of the factory. BCM offers the old style of Surefire FH, but not the new SOCOM type. Does anyone know of a gunsmith within half an hour of Ft. Collins that will pin/weld a muzzle device? Just putting out the feelers for now.

+1 on that! I posted this same question a while back and was referred to BP Tactical. I had Bert cut down my barrel and pin on a YHM QD Flash suppressor and I am VERY happy with the work! He made sure that it was slightly longer than 16" overall to make sure I wasn't tippy toeing on that gray line and would stay out of jail. Plus, he did the blind pin under the QD spring nut so that it cannot be seen directly but easy to get to if I ever have to "prove" it is permanent. Great job, reasonably fast turn around (about a week and a half but he had a backlog) and a very reasonable price. Call him - you won't be disappointed! (not I am not being paid for this advertisement :-) )
Funny thing is, I may have paid for the pinning for naught as I just submitted my Form 1 for building an SBR and will be able to put whatever length barrel I want anyways.. Oh well still love it.

Chuck at Rocky Mountain Shooter Supply in Fort Collins will do pin and weld too, about $50, since he pay rent to the store.

SSHHHHH it's a well kept secret, gunsmiths do it for free. The whole I HAVE OVERHEARD is just a smokescreen for how generous and kind hearted they are.
