Heard on a talk show this morning that included in the stimulus package is a provision that prohibits gun ownership if convicted of a misdemeanor. Didn't specify it was restricting ownership or purchase.
Not a problem for me but in many states higher end traffic violations are misdemeanors, ie. DUI.
Anyone know anything about this?

Misdemeanor domestic violence will already cost you your constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
The GOA is kind of stretching (but only by a tiny bit) the threat of the new electronic medical records database crap in the porkulous bill because it will make it easier for government officials to find potential medical (psychological) issues that would make you into a "prohibited person".
I think the threat to our health care in general is worse than the potential RKBA threat, but its best to keep an eye on these things.
yeah but it does open the door to things like maybe add, adhd and so forth to keep some from owning. heck they might even make it illegal if you have ever seen a shrink or been diagnosed with temporary depression.

Did this remain in the porkulous package? When everyone was complaining about the pork in the package, I was also a little paranoid that some dipshit would put in tiny and stupid gun laws that go un-noticed.
Heaven forbid a close relative dies and you have to take an antidepressant for a couple months. I don't think that is stretching by much at all. I've read several news articles about doctors questioning kids about home life and parents lifestyles, then notifying authorities (ie do your parents have guns, do they drink alcohol, etc, etc). Granted i'm all for a doctor asking a kid if his/her parents are abusing them, but where do you draw the line?
Give a liberal enough power and he will push gun control and taxes. The result is more crime to push more gun control and a treasury surplus.

Since The Cbi Runs The Checks...any Glitch Will Instantly Get You
Denied...then The Burden Is On You To Clear It Up Even Though The Law Says Its Their Responsibility To Do So If You Request It.
They Are Agian Proposing A $15 Fee For Checks ( The Cbi Is) And We Are Agian...going To Smash Them Flat And Send Them Scurrying For The 3rd Time....
Its Nothing But A Blatent Tax On Gunownership...and Its Not Going To Be Allowed.
Why not infringe on a persons right to own a firearm because of a mistermeaner? Its as big a loophole to ban rifles since gangstars use pistols.
I am for banning a violent person from owning a gun for a time since he/she has shown they can't handle it. But banning a person from owning a gun forever... for a stupid conviction while a child or mistermeaner is just unconstitutional. IMHO.
