Driving home today I am on Buckley heading North just before Smoky Hill Rd. About 4 cars in front of me I see the results of a three car crash. One car goes to the right, another goes left and the third I don't see till I get closer.
But here is the things. I see the accident. Hang up with the wife. Pop the e-brake and four ways. Get out of the car and jog up to see if anyone is ok.
I WAS THE ONLY DAMN ONE WHO GOT OUT OF THEIR CAR!
What the fuck. No one rolled a window down, no one got out, no one went to check if everyone was ok. No one. I jogged past four cars to get to the accident. Like everyone is so fucking important they couldn't stop to see if everyone was ok. You think I don't have anyplace to go? I have to pick my daughter up by 6. Late fees are stupid high too. Fuck you all you self important shit stains.
Everyone was all right. A VW Jetta rear ended a Fiat 500 and pushed it into the back of a Chevy Malibu. Malibu and Fiat both still had temp tags and the Fiat owner said he had his less then a week. No injuries. Fiat and VW were totaled. Side curtain airbags went off in the Fiat and a spring fell off. No seriously, one of the suspension springs fell off. Malibu guy is going to be stuck with his car though, wasn't enough damage I could see to total that one.
And you were on the phone.

It sucks that many folks decided to do nothing.
It baffles me that some folks really do think their time is WAY more important than somebody elses time though.
Nice of you to stop and help like that.
...and get off the phone while you're driving... ;) ....at least you weren't texting while behind the wheel. That shit really pisses me off.

If I can land nav a LAV25 while driving 60 MPH over rough terrain and also do a CAS call with pilots and motors I think I can handle a car ride talking to the wife.

yeah, bro....just sayin'.
I'm talented too, ya know? I'll admit receiving a call while driving, but I won't dial a number from behind the wheel..... hypocrite? maybe a little bit. You can bet the damn farm you'll never catch me texting behind the wheel though.

Hey, I'm not trying to derail your thread, man.
I agree it was shitty for nobody besides you to help in that situation.

Meh.
Does no one think of a hands free phone call?

Just more evidence this country is divided, it's about me myself, and what I need to do, or where I need to be. I still have a little faith tho, had a guy on the trail a couple weeks ago, stop to see if I needed help. I was pulled over but had my hazards on, just something I do when pulled over.

Personally...I have no interest in wearing, or setting up my car(s) to do hands free phone calls, or social media, or any of that shit. Color me old fashioned, or prick, or whatever...when I'm driving, all I want to do is drive.

I own a car with it built in.

Yes, they started doing that several years ago.... I just have zero interest in that stuff. There's very little that I "Just have to know about" while I'm driving.
If I'm bored, I'll listen to the radio.
Did you leave your contact information with any of the drivers? I LOVE witnesses as a claims adjuster.

I did not see what happened. I saw the Fiat go right, the VW go left and didn't see the Malibu till I ran up to the crash. I can tell you from looking at it that the VW hit the Fiat which hit the Malibu. Fiat and Malibu drivers were irate about their brand new cars.
How do you know that the Fiat didn't rear-end the Malibu, then the VW rear-ended the Fiat?
Just playing devil's advocate.

No idea. Like I said I didn't see it happen. Rear bumper con on fiat. Right front quarter totally shoved in on the vw. Right rear impact on the Malibu. The side was shoved in and mangled on the fiat. Looked like it had hit the Malibu sideways. Thus the curtain airbag deployment.

I've only been living in Colorado since 1998. When we got here, people didn't act like this, Chris. Can't understand why Colorado people act so different a dozen years later.
Oh, while playing the advocate, I forgot to tell you good job for stopping, as was my original intention. I want to say that maybe 1 in 30 claims I handle has a witness? Maybe I should start tracking that. Might be interesting data.

I'm gonna go with the increase in our population from California.
I'm gonna go with the increase in our population from California.
I can always tell when I'm dealing with someone from California.
1) I can about choke on the sense of entitlement.
2) They ALWAYS tell me they are from California.

ROFL
Guilty as charged. You got me, good sir.
I usually pull over to check, but I have a friend that was witness to a fatal accident several years ago near grandview HS. The guy that was charged with vehicular homicide tired to blame HIM for starting the accident, he was eventually cleared when the accident investigators said there was not possible way he could have caused the accident. I think that is what scares people, everyone is so sue happy now, I know someone that when their bank account is low they go and sue someone.
